How Do Yaal train at home?
I have a garage with a heavy bag, focus mitts,thai-pads,weight bench, sandbags for squat&grip training,"Giant"inner tubing for resistance training and various weighted sticks for FMA training. What are your home gyms like? Do you use homemade/exotic equipment/training? Please share your ideas! -Badger |

I have weight sets at home which I use with good results, and I have wrestling dummies that I work with everyday, and can make up different drills, and ground and pound scenarios. Or submission drills over and over. Suplexing drills, judo throws, etc. Great tools. I do 500 push ups a night now, and roll with friends. I am more of a solo trainer anyway, but with grappling you have to get in with real people. But as long as you put yourself in that experience, home training can only improve you I think.Ryu

I have a room built close to the house and that is where I train now,The room has a heavy bag, speed bag,all kind of weight benches and dumbells,a mat to practice my grappling and throwing techniques.I normally spend about 3 hours a day training there.Right after the stock market closes at 4 I begin training.

If Kimura could do it, then I force myself to do it too! ![]() Badger, occasionally I do yes. Kimura did them everday, and I try to as well, but I will take a day off the push ups or even up to 3 or 4 to just heal up my body and start over again. But usually I do them everynight. I do 100 push ups straight, rest for 60 seconds or so, then do 100 more...until I hit 500. Ryu

I have a small garage with another room adiacent, so I can let the garage with minimum equipment and the bring things from the room according to what I train.
I have a thai bag, stuffed with grounded rubber, a speed bag, a double end bag, thai pads, focus mitts, a mat, and the most important piece of them all: a Bang&olufsen CDplayer. I'm planning to craft another dummy 'cause the one I had now is in the Gym where I train. |

My home dojo seems to fit the standard mold.
I have a large mat area, heavy bag, speed bag, dumbells and a curl bar (no bench) and a grappling dummy I use for repetitions (knee in belly, etc) I usually do some good cardio work (3 rounds of 5 minutes with 1 minute rest between), stretch, hit the heavy bag for 3 minute rounds, Do some overall conditioning with dumbells and curl bar. I like doing bodywt exercises, so I'll do 50 pushups, 50 dips, 50 situps, and 50 windmills. Sometimes I'll just go "ape" in the garage. Do 50 quick pushups, hit the bag for 3 minutes, kick for 3 minutes, drop for crunches, stand up and do curls.. just basically killing the whole body and keeping the heart rate up for 45minutes-1 hour. |

I built a striking dummy using a padded post in a tire&concrete(from Mike Young's Home Training Book)
works great for Muay-Thai practice. Anyone else build anything? -Badger |
