THE MARINES ALL-STAR CLASSIC WRESTLING TOURNAMENT
PRESENTED BY REAL PRO WRESTLING
PROVIDES PREVIEW OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES

Tournament to host the nation's top college wrestlers

LOS ANGELES (November. 18, 2004) - Real Pro Wrestling is excited to be the presenting sponsor for The Marines All-Star Classic Monday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. on the campus of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. The tournament, a signature event of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), was moved to November to ensure the participation of the top collegiate wrestlers.

Real Pro Wrestling (RPW) supports wrestling through collegiate and professional outlets.

The lineup for this year Marines All-Star Classic, ranks as one of the best in recent memory. Seven NCAA champions and eight wrestlers ranked No. 1 in the pre-season will take to the mat. Six matches will feature the top two ranked wrestlers in the nation according to the NWCA Division I Coaches poll.

Event coverage is available on College Sports Television (CSTV) on Tuesday, Nov. 23 beginning at 10 p.m. EST.

"Real Pro Wrestling is excited to be a part of this historic tournament," said Toby Willis, the president of RPW. "RPW is working to change the future of wrestling by giving wrestlers an opportunity to compete beyond collegiate and Olympic competition in a professional atmosphere comparable to leagues such as the NFL, MLB and NBA. Not only does RPW understand the need to support professional wrestlers, we also recognize the importance of supporting collegiate wrestling programs as well."

Founded in 2002, RPW is based in Ashland City, Tenn. and is the creation of two former Northwestern collegiate wrestling teammates -- Willis and Matt Case -- and former Olympic hopeful Kenny Johnson.

RPW combines Freestyle and Greco-Roman rules and techniques. The league consists of eight teams from around the country made up of seven different weight classes ranging from 55 kg/125 lbs. to 120 kg/250 lbs. Regional teams will include the New York Outrage, California Claw, Chicago Groove, Iowa Stalkers, Oklahoma Slam, Minnesota Freeze, Pennsylvania Hammer and the Texas Shooters. Team line-ups and coaches will be announced at a later date.

RPW makes its national Television debut on PAX TV Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005 at 4 p.m. EST/PST and 3 p.m. CST. Real Pro Wrestling will also air on Fox Sports Net (schedule TBD). Wrestlers will compete for the championship and $250,000 in prizes and money and additional incentive-based winnings. The 15-week series includes 14 one-hour-long shows with a two-hour final championship episode.

Default How will this do

I wonder how RPW will do?

I will be watching, but not sure how many else will..

Hopefully they do a good job to stop stalling. I watched the NCAA championships on ESPN earlier this year and there was about 1 minute of action and the rest was stalling.

I did enjoy watching womens wrestling shown during the Titan games on TBS, as there seemed to be much more action and very little stalling.

I'd watch it.

The thing is is that people like the drama of the WWE and it doesn't require any technical eye to appreciate some huge dude picking up another one and slamming him into the mat.

On the other hand, RPW is going to be the real deal.
