Pang-kray-shun or Pan-krah-tee-on?

I hear most people pronunce it "pangkrayshun" these days, but back in ancient Greece I am pretty sure it was spoken "the Pankratteeonn."

thoughts?

P.s. yes I know my phoenetics suck...

From what I understand The Pankrateon was the name for the actual event.
