Default BJJ without weight training?

I have recently started BJJ classes. Because of the classes, I will have to soon give up my membership to the gym. Also, I have no weight sets at home. Is it absolutely necessary to do weight training while practicing BJJ to obtain the maximum strength/fitness? Or would doing pushups, situps, dips, pullups, and other calisthenic exercises be good enough, along with jogging twice a week?

The short answer is Yes. BJJ, calisthetics and jogging is more than enough and if you're not careful your body might burn out. I used to be a gym rat and I am basically letting my membership go to waste. With a relationship, work, school, and BJJ, I don't have anymore room on my plate. But the BJJ is maintaining my weight, keeping the tummy flat, and the drills and rolling is maintaining my muscle mass.

I agree completely with this post. As of late, I haven't had time to train in BJJ, but I do go to the gym just to 'maintain' what I have. If I had the time, I'd definitely only train in martial arts (BJJ and Muay Thai) and not even think twice about whether it was enough or not.
