    Default Big wrestling tournament tomorrow...

There's a big wrestling tournament tomorrow. Some top notch guys will be in my weight division. I'm a bit freaked out and get adrenaline rushes every now and then. So wish me luck and I'll tell you how it goes. Any last minute advice from you guys?

The second we got to the school, the coaches gathered and had a private 'seed meeting'. In case you don't know, a seed meeting is where the coaches decide where and how to seat you.
An hour later, the brackets are out and we all gather around to look at the sheet. Turns out my coach lied about my record so they seated me second.
First match I went against this one strong guy. He must've been been a second or third year wrestler and his amazing strength aided him in kciking my ass. I managed to score one takedown on his with a sweepsingle before he preceded to switch me and pin my ass. I thought this match was pretty important because it showed me the importance of weight training and why I should put some more time in the weight room.

So now I'm knocked down into the "losers' bracket". Where we still have a chance for third place. My second match I went against this one tall and lanky kid. I shot a low low single the second the whistle blew and rammed my should right into his shin. He fell down and I preceded to get a two on one and 'wind the clock'. I forget how the rest of the match went but he managed to get out and I pinned him in second period.

My third match I went againsst a kid about my size. I dominated him in the neutral position with my 'awesome' takedowns(two cheap takedowns called the sweep single and a low single). I took him down the second the whistle blew and sunk a deep half nelson and had him pinned. the guy was clearly on his back but the referee refused to call it a pin. This lasted 2 friggin minutes. Clock runs out and yet the ref still refuses to call it a pin. Second period I chose neutral and took him down with a low single... more to come

I'm wrestling 140 varsity. What school do you go to?

    Back to my story...
I shot a sweep single and he tried to sprawl on me. Little did he know that you can't sprawl on a sweep single. He basically fell to his stomach and I got his back. I tried to work something but he was able to somehow reverse me. I tried to do a stand up but he tied up one of my legs and I couldn't stand up. So I starteddoing a frog hop to try to pull my leg back out. It worked and I worked for a switch and got his back. He does a stand up and I suplex him back to the ground. The second he hit the ground he popped up and put me in a head and arm. I caught his leg and attempted to pull my head and arm back out but he had it in tight. He basically held me there until third period. He was up by a good amount of points and I needed a pin to win. I started on bottom this time. He broke me down but I managed to pull a switch and get behind him. I two on oned him and tried fora double armbar to a pin but he had strong arms and I was unable to. I managed to get one armbar and attempted to run a half with my other hand. I got the half in and then that was when he managed to pull his arm out of the armbar and pinned me.

And that was that. I got knocked out of the tournament. I do feel that I could've been able to beat the guy. I guess I need to work on my ground game. That was my tournament in a nutshell. Some of the things may be wrong as i do not remember exactly how it happened.

Naw they didn't tape it. There were 4 matches going on at all times and sometimes 2 or more people form oour team would be going at the same time so we gave up on the idea of taping our matches all together.
I kinda wish I taped my matches. That way I can figure out what I did wrong and see what I need to improve on.

One of the things i need to work on is takedowns. So far I got 2 but one of them is pretty much only useful at the beginning of the match when the whistle blows. The other I can't keep using because they'll figure out how to counter it sooner or later. I'd alwas try to mix the sweep single with the double but i get the hell crossfaced out of me every time i try for the double.
One take down I'm working on is mid level single leg finishes. I'm still working on how I can get the leg up into the position.

Any help and tips would be greatly appreciated.
