Default a prettier fight

I don't know about you guys, but grappling can sometimes seem tedious to watch, no matter how advanced the techniques and the battles for position get, and with kickboxing, generally after a telling blow, most fighters will just rally with punches, and the grace seems to leave the fight.

What about developing a sport where both opponents had bound hands...no choking or throws...but rather more dynamic and acrobatic kicking, knees, and elbows...
take all the kicks from every art...muay thai, tae kwon do, gung fu, FMA type hacky sack kicks, karate, hapkido, capoeira, gymnastics...pure creative license... sounds like fun, doesn't it...
and no points or rounds...just to KO's or surrender.

yeah, real clever....thanx for raping my hopes and dreams.
No, man, what I'm talking about is cutting edge, and is done for spectacle and sport, no just self defense. Man...it's about beauty and articulation of the human form in competition. Artistic license...pure and simple, no set routines, no point crap, free form fighting, minus the trappings of boxing and grappling, which have become tedious and mundane, boring as hell, regardless of how effective they may be.
A new sport, about the expression of the human body as art form.

as for you...mr. naysay
punk ass.
mr. Xtreme, go choke on a mountain dew.

Well. Since it is so important that fighting be "pretty", let's go ahead and have the "Queer Eye" guys do their hair for them, and fix them up in make-up...shit, it's the new millenia - we can even BUFF THEIR NAILS and SHAVE THEIR LEGS.. Because, one of the things I hate about MMA, is the way some of the guys are H A I R Y.. so let's just fix that right up.

Maybe put them in shiny outfits like figure skaters..and, dude, get this..THEY SING while THEY FIGHT.. Some of them Opera..Some are metal thrashers.. and the women? They just s w o o n for Latin Heartthrob the Dominatrado!!! His songs of romance and desire that boil out of him as he finishes off a weary opponent with a 1440 degree spinning kick..yes! 4 total spins before he makes contact..

No. Actually, for all of my screwing with you, it sounds kind of cool. The problem is that it has two contradictory goals. (Look Good) and (Defend your freaking Neck).

These two things, throughout history, are more Yin N Yang than Good and Evil are. They are diametric opposites.

I feel ya....but tell me, man, a top thai boxer landing a neck kick isn't suave. what about capoiera....true it's not very effective in most if not all scenarios...but it does encompass a flashy spectacle type contact sport. TKD guys can be too jerky with their kicks, which, compared to the kicks of thai boxing ain't shizzle...but I've rarely seen a punch, and never a good combination of punches in a tkd fight...I've never seen a full force sepa type kick from kali, or the FMA's, and silat sweeps and trips full force...
Man....this could be bomb.

And unlike in grappling.....you wouldn't have to wait forever while the guys to stall...and unlike boxing...or MMA for that matter...once a telling blow was struck, it would be harder to follow with a rally of ugly strikes....they'd have to think about it. It could be very acrobatic and dynamic....I'm not talking about alot of jumping tkd slap kicks.....imagine jumping up at a 45 degree angle and turning your whole body throwing a muay thai kick in the air...sure you'd probably biff it, but if it connects, damn...and if you miss, the other guy can't wrestle with you, only kick or stomp at you. Put a small enclosure around it, and you could kick off the walls or cage to throw higher kicks, or kick at the wall and turn around with a flying knee...ouch. Hell, even keep prummb, just no wrapping your hands around the neck (remember, the hands bound in front, and chokes like that could be a little much, imagine a throw from the neck with a flexible weapon, even handcuffs....crack...ouch, none of that.), use the shoulder...which would open up a whole load of sweeps and trips. And keep elbows, and blocking with the forearms...because, hey, can't really block an elbow or a kick to the face with your shin.

yeah...that's right WATCH a movie. WATCH. I'm talking about FIGHTING. DOING...not renting some coreographed scene, I want the real thing, I want to see what the human body is capable of pulling off under certain types of duress, i.e. a fight without the use of hands, and eventually the evolution of techniques based upon this type of physical limitation.

Regardless of what you say...this seems like, if nothing else, a pretty good way to leg spar...at most, a new type of combat sport.

Savate has a lot of stuff. That would be like saying take TKD.

I've been thinking about this Garland, and there is one major flaw. By limiting people this way, you also limit many people from being able to be competitive. It would be much harder for a smaller person to get inside of someones kicks and then kick away. Evertime they kicked the person, they would have to work their way back in again. This type of art would definitely be in the taller lankeir persons advantage. It would end up looking like Olympic TKD. Not only that, but what would you do if someone grabbed their opponent? If you break, then the person got what they wanted anyways. Would you DQ the person? I think that allowing clinching actually makes the playing field more level, and makes the game more interesting.

Don't get all high and mighty. Neither you nor I have contributed anything of significance on this Forum. This is a BJJ and MMA forum (so no "pretty fights" threads please). It's not like this an internet community commited to curing cancer or AIDS. We're a bunch of freaks that love to talk about Martial Arts - some more intelligently than others.

And despite what your teacher said, there is such a thing as a dumb question and dumb idea. We're both guys, so you know we've both said some stupid and dumb shite from time to time.
