Default Looking For Grappling School In San Fernando Valley-help..

Hi All,
Anybody know of good grappling schools in Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys/Studio city area???
I did a few months of bjj years back...I really liked it but didnt like the lack of takedown technique and not crazy about all the gi techniques...I guess a bjj style without gi and something with takedowns is what i am looking for.Not into punching or kicking....Well,if any of ya in th eLA area know some schools in the valley, let me know.... thank.

hey, thanks but i dont drive naymore cuz the traffic is so horrible now in LA and the valley,i can never make it on time unless i leave 2-3 hrs before ...so driving is a waste of time if leaving sfv....I even started taking the bus and it aint bad....Ive gone all over on the mta/rtd-long beach etc...round trip costs 3.00 about 12-15 bux cheaper than what it would cost by car!!!
Anyway maybe any bjj dojo in Sherman Oaks /Van Nuys???

Default This school is one of the best....

Try training at Jean Jacques Machado's school on Oxnard Street in Tarzana....one of the best in the region. People drive from the South Bay to train with Jean Jacques....he is there everyday.

http://www.jeanjacquesmachado.com/splash.html

The downside....195.00 a month for unlimited training.....and that's the automatic withdrawl rate....

Excellent coach...

Brazilian Champ.. Beat Ralik Gracie..

Renato is 3rd Degree BB under Regan Machado

Johnny Ramirez is planning to open a school in the Valley, probably the Van Nuys area but hasn't just yet. I believe he's still looking to find the right place.

He's a black belt under Rodrigo Medieros and also trains with John Ouano, also a BJJ black belt and Gi manufacturer.

We are all part of the Carlson Gracie team so I've trained with Rodrigo, John and Johnny many times. They are all super cool, and excellent teachers. Johnny's a smaller guy so he teaches a small man's game so, if you're not a big guy, you get that extra edge.

Default Studio City BJJ is AWESOME

Hey Mike,
Thanks bro for the post......I went to Chris' school tonight, Friday night, and trained with him. Chris is awesome. I have been to a number of schools in the area in the last two weeks, and this is THE SCHOOL. Chris is very technical, he has very good people skills, and he is a very good teacher. As far as the school's physical surroundings, I was suprised.....very nice school. Clean mats, modern clean space. This place rocks. It was just me and another blue belt, so it was like a semi private lesson with all sorts of sneaky shit being taught I have never seen before. Thanks Mike, I'll look for you. I'll email you too.
