Question

When holding mount I have found that some guys are holding tight and some hold loose.
If your light and holding down a bigger guy, which way do you choose?
Or do you change it up with whatever he is doing?
Thoughts?

Thumbs up

the guy's bigger than me... i stay loose.

edro, there's also a pretty cool choke from the hold you mentioned.

here it is... if you're mounted and you're holding his right wrist with your left hand (your left arm is under/behind his neck), then with you free right hand/arm, slink your hand under the bend in his elbow going towards his right shoulder. the object is then to cup the top of his right shoulder with your right hand and push your elbow down towards his left, accross his neck. it's a nasty choke and will get a quick tap.

remember, when you put your hand in, put it straight in THEN apply then pressure down. this will increase the eliment of surprise and make it easier for you.

Similar principles to a triangle choke?

The grappling arts imply most fights end up on the ground. The striking arts imply all fights start standing up. The clinching arts imply the clinch can stop the striker from striking, and the grappler from taking it to the ground. The weapon arts imply the they can stop the unarmed man. A complete martial art implies any fight can go anywhere...be ready and able to go everywhere.
