I have a question for all you 'grapplers' out there?

Since it is of popular opinion that a pure boxer would have virtually no chance against a grappler, I was just wondering, how you 'grapplers' would do against a world class boxer like Tyson, Roy Jones, Tua, or Lewis? This is not meant to be a wise ass comment, I am seriously interested in how you guys think you would do. Lets say it was one of you guys in a streetfight against Tyson. Could you take him down?, submit him?, G & P him? could you take one of his punches? Again, this is not a wise ass post, I am serious. But seing that (according to some peoples logic)all you have to do is be better than someone on the ground to beat them in a streetfight, and almost all of the guys I have mentioned have NO ground experience, well than you should beat them. I would like some replies of how you would fare against these guys (especially Tyson).

Colonie Crusher - to tell you the truth, I wouldn't be able to beat Tyson, Jones, Trinidad, or any of them over about 100 pounds SOAKING WET. What's the 100lb division? Straw weight?....ya, thats it....that's my division. These are about the only guys I could control once on the ground. And, thats IF I COULD GET 'EM TO THE GROUND!

You are trying to pit "world class" boxers against amateur grapplers.

Obviously the guys you mentioned who are in top physical condition and have years of experience would beat most of the amateur two-night-per-week grapplers on this forum.

However, the guys you list wouldn't stand a chance against a "world class" grappler precisely for the reason you said.

You need not wonder any more.

I believe this is hard for you to accept because you (for whatever reason) dearly wish it weren't true.

You're totally missing the point of my post. That's not surprising. Also, you say "I wish that weren't true." I take it you're referring to a grappler being able to take down a boxer. That statement is bullshit, because it's the fighter, not the style that counts. Can Mark Coleman take Holyfield down? ABSOLOUTLY. Can Holyfield knock Coleman out? ABSOLOUTLY. It's all a race of who gets there first. The takedown or the KO punch. I have tremendous respect for grappling but to say a world class grappler would take down a world class boxer EVERY TIME is outragous. Just like saying a world class boxer would KO a world class grappler EVERY TIME is outragous.
