I know where your coming from man, when I first got into BJJ my dad wanted me to train with him and all of his buddies. They all were all older and better then me, and I didn't want to make a fool out of myself by getting tapped out left and right. And since I'm a really shy dude I didn't want to go by myself...

So I asked some of my friends if they'd go with me, in time they said yes.. After hours of begging of that is , so the week after me and my friends all went and we got our asses tapped out left and right ...

But it wasn't that bad because I wasn't alone, I also had friends with me that was also new at it to.. So try bringing a few friends with you next time , maybe that'll help a little bit..

DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF LOOSING, IT IS PART OF LEARNING.

It's tough being a beginner at anything, I understand being nervous too. My idea is to not show up until about 8:25 so you won't have time to play head games with yourself.

Also, remember that they all want you there. The instructor wants students, and the students want more people to play with.

If those ideas don't help try this one: If you don't go now, you're BJJ story is always going to be 'I wussed out'. You have to go back there now and confront your inner coward - you gotta smack him in the eye and let him know who's running the TUF show.

I think this is the reason why most people stick with what they know and try not to get outside of the box. It also involves taking a risk.

Ok, but don't slap yourself too much.

Seriously, go in to learn. Everyone starts from nothing.

ok first off, not to be mean but you wuss. the guys in there were probably beginners too and therefore should be at your skill level. But anyway, since technically you didn't ever have a free trial lesson, contact the gym and schedule a new one if possible.

Just one final thought: You WILL get submitted every way from Thursday for the first month or two. One of the things about grappling generally and BJJ specifically is that if one guy knows even a little, he can make a fool out of someone who knows nothing. SO:

    Leave the ego at home.

Do your best and don't get frustrated. You may feel like you aren't getting any better but trust me; one day in about four months, a new guy will come in, and that will be the day you see how much you've learned.
