i plan on joining the armed forces and i wanted to know what styles are there that might be available to the public for hand to hand combat?

Krav Maga is a good one to look out for.

I agree..Krav Maga and Haganah..I study both and they are solid. Also JKD wouldn't be a bad choice either.
