From another site:
Quote:
.....Washing soda is Sodium Carbonate. Baking soda on the other hand is Sodium Bicarbonate. The two are not interchangeable in any way. If you cannot find it at your grocery store in the detergent isle, try asking for a special order. According to the good folks at Arm & Hammer, the upc code for the 55 ounce box is 33200-03020.

Cakegirl, Thank you for the info, I think I'll try the soda crystals. I will let you know if any liquid comes out. That would be great if it works. I hope we have it!
Shirase, couliflower ear is when your ears gets bruised and swollen from being rubbed against. It may be against the mat, someones uniform, and even any part of the body. It fills up with fluid blood and basically puss. That was what the doc. said. If you don't treat it soon, the liquid will hardened and then you will be stuck with ears that look like couliflower. Hence - COULIFLOWER EAR. There is a medical name, but I forgot. I'm making an appointment to get it treated this week.

I've had it drained with a syringe or just used a pin to poke a hole and squeezed the fluid out. It never looked like pus, more like diluted blood. The ear is quite tender when injured...

My ears looks 100% normal (well, as normal as ears can look), but then again I havent had them swollen up very often either. When they are hurt though, I make sure to take care of them.

It's not laundry detergent, though. That will probably just make you clean and smell fresh like a forest. It's a different thing, I think originally designed to soften hard water or something... Here in Australia, it's kind of hard to get, but my coach and I (as well as the masseur who was the one to put it on my knee), when we see it, we buy the entire stock from the store!

Here is some info about washing soda: http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/home/440

HA! too cool. WAY better than going to get your knee/ankle drained at the doctor...

yeah, about the "Fresh like a forest" or "fresh like a mountain," what's up with that? These people never smelled a forest or mountain before???
