Being new to your art I think the instructors would understand your not knowing how to tie yet. Had you considered asking and having someone show you in person?

hold it in front of you stretched out, put the middle across your waist and wrap the two ends around your sides and bring them to the front, put one under the other and then tie them

Trainers will show it to you as many times as it takes to learn it. Some people have real difficulties to learn it, and some people learns it at once. But everyone learns it anyway.

Default Square Knot...with a wrap around.

Easy now, I couldn't tie a knot to save my life and I was in the Navy!

The instructions here so far are vague at best (sorry guys)

1. Fold the left side of your jacket over the right side.

2. Place the center of your belt over your naval and wrap both ends around your waist bringing the ends in front of you.

3. Right over left... (with a wrap under the center of your belt)

4. Left over right.

5. Tighten the knot by pulling the ends.

You have now tied your gi belt!

Kinda like this knot...
