Greetings, fellow MMA Promoters.
My name is Eric Moon, and I promote an entry-level MMA event known as the Ironheart Crown. I have been talking with other promoters around the country, and a number of them have expressed interest in this idea I have. In our smaller, under-funded events, it is difficult to get adequate press coverage, quality fighters, and decent sponsorship. As a possible solution to this problem, I am proposing a unification of promoters across the country, and later around the world, under the banner of a single organization, the World Full-Contact Alliance. By joining this organization, our little events will be a part of a larger entity. This will benefit us all in a number of ways. With all of us promoting events under the banner of this organization, the organization will gain respect as a wide-spread body. Fighters in your event will be competing to qualify for regional titles, and regional champions will then be able to compete for national and then world titles. The prestige of competing for a true U.S. or World title will entice a higher level of fighters to compete in your events, even if you are unable to afford the prize money that the fighters are accustomed to. Prize money will increase at the regional level and get bigger at the national level. However, in order to compete in the advanced tournaments, qualification through participation in your smaller events will be necessary. As this large entity grows, it will attract more media attention. Your event, the "whatever challenge" or "whatever brawl" will now be much more than a local event. It will be a qualifying show out of which the national champion may emerge. Thus, your event will warrant more coverage in the media. As the name grows, it may also attract increased sponsorship to help you put on better shows. It will also be good for the sport as a whole by adding a little more legitimacy to your event. For example, John Doe in Bumblefudge, Idaho will no longer be putting on an event that appears to local lawmakers as an underground bloodfest. Instead, you will be a part of a legitimate nation-wide organization with standardized rules and policies, to be hashed out later in a meeting between promoters. This is not a money-making scam, and you will not lose any autonomy in your event's promotion. It is free to join. You may still call your event whatever you like. Mine will still be the Ironheart Crown. The only agreement is that any event you promote under the banner of the World Full-Contact Alliance be a quality event which adheres to the agreed upon rules & policies and adequately compensates the fighters. In order to facilitate the rise in competition from the local level to the national title, the states and regions will be broken up into groups of four so that a 4-man tournament format may be used. The states will be broken up into North, South, East, and West divisions. States in the northern division will include MT, WY, ND, SD, NE, MN, IA, MO, WI, IL, IN, MI, and OH. States in the southern division will include KS, OK, TX, AR, LA, KY, TN, MS, AL, and GA. States in the western division will include AK, HI, WA, OR, ID, CA, NV, UT, AZ, CO, and NM. States in the Eastern division will include VT, NH, ME, MA, RI, CT, PA, NJ, DE, MD, WV, DC, VA, NC, SC, and FL. The above divisions are subject to revision once we get together to discuss further details. I will be coordinating the Northern division, and Rob Braniff of Louisiana will be coordinating the Southern division. Each division will be further divided into four regions so that regional champions will compete for division championships and then go on to compete for the national title. District and National title bouts may be hosted by any promoter, but all promoters will have input on when and where they are held. The organization will be a “round table” with no one promoter in charge. We are doing this to promote the sport and to help each other out, not to establish a monopoly for any single promoter. I have already received a very positive response from a number of interested promoters. If you are interested in joining our organization, please e-mail me (EMoon773@aol.com) with your name, the name of your event, your phone number, and if you have a website for your event, include that too. This is a big project that is going to require cooperation of a number of people committed to advancing the sport. I hope we can get the idea off the ground. TTT’s will be greatly appreciated. Also, those of you who are not promoters, especially the fighters, please feel free to add any suggestions or other input. Thank you. |
