Default BJJ once or twice a month

I'm looking at taking some BJJ classes. due to scheduling, location and some other isssues, I would only be able to go once or twice a month. Would I be wasting my time, since I can't be more often?

no, but it might take 263 years to acheive black, instead of the regular 8-12

I find it difficult to retain the information, and to improve, if I'm training less than two times per week.

Maybe, though, you'll be able to come up with something - training twice a month, but maybe maintaining meticulous notes on your classes, and then practicing those moves at home (either with a willing partner or against the air) will reinforce them in you.

Definitely do it. The basics you learn in the beginning are not hard to remember, yet essential. Once you get to intricate butterlfy guard sweeps it will become more difficult to retain and apply the techniques, but in the beginning it is all good.

Plus, once you start you just might find that your priorities/schedule change around a little, and there'll be more time for Jiu Jitsu.

I have been doing MA for a year and the longer I do it the less I am interested in belts and the more i'm interested in learning new things and getting better at what I have learned.

If I do it in the fall, I might be able to go more often for the first month or two.
