Default my injury list

cracked ribs (I stepped into his kick, instead of away from it)

broken nose (tried breaking his hand with my face)

broken hand (punching the bag too hard and too long)

dislocated shoulder (bad fall)

broken ankle (really bad fall)

various concussions (miscellaneous punches and kicks to the head)

glandular/nerve damage (thumb spike to that spot just below the ear. I drooled a bit, went numb on that side for a couple of days, and eventually was diagnosed as having a damaged parotid gland, which made eating an interesting experience for about a year)

that's not to bad for an ol' incompetent punching bag like me!

Becareful what you aim for you might get it.
I view competition as.... I'm not supposed to win. The only way I have a chance to win is to rigorously out-train the guy and fight tooth and nail.

Confidence can be good for some fighters, but it's never worked for me. I do better when I feel like I have nothing to loSE.

I don't think about every aspect of my life like that. I just find it's the best mentality for me to use when fighting.

It started more than 3yrs ago. I had aching pain for the first 2yrs but I was well enough to occasionally do kicking exercises. I saw 2 different orthopedic hip specialists. They did not know what is was wrong with me and prescribed with Vioxx. I did some research and thought it was ITB problem so I did lots of ITB stretching exercises and felt better but not completely. In about the 3rd year, after a training class I had a two-man ITB stretching exercise. Next day, I was in intense pain around the hip area and sometimes radiate down to my knee. I guess I over did it on the stretch. I took ibuprofen for about a week and wanted to recover fast enough to perform demonstrations in about a week as well. The day after the demonstration, I can barely walk. I went to another orthopedic hip specialist. I had x-ray and MRI and still cannot find the problem. The MD thinks I have micro tears but he is not completely certain. I am currently taking over the counter Neproxen. Now I feel worst after I stretch. I curious if anyone has the same experience as I here.

So your pain radiates down the front of you leg towards the knee? That is what I'm assuming since your thinking it's a ITB problem.

A couple suggestions. One take it easy on it for 3 or 4 months and see what happens. My hamstring recovery took 5 years (probably because I kept reinjuring it.

Find a doc with ultasound equipment to generate deep muscle heat (chiropractors often have these)

test to see what causes pain,

lay on your back. bring leg up 90 degrees, then while keeping it straight try to take it to the floor left and then right. then with knee bent try it again. also try sitting on your knees and trying to lay back and get your body all the way to the floor.

then post your results.

Why train hard with a mindset of a victim you will never win... Train harder than that guy that wants your head, be prepared to win.
SamuraiGuy is correct, It was a joke! The last tounament I was in was in April www.edgefighting.com for results. Anyway, I also agree with mindset training. If you are defeated in your mind, you will be defeated in the ring. I also however, am very practical. My boxing skills need some more fine tuning. I plan on fighting in amateur mma events in TX, to get experience, and see where it goes from there. Long story short, I agree with both, but I am not a moron!

Another thing, you can visualize all you want, but if you don't hit the gym - mat - ring - whatever, it's no good! That was my point!

i havent got in the ring with someone who wants to see me unconscious yet. i intend to, but im not good enough yet (not being defeatest there because i really am right about that). my mindset at the moment isnt so good. in sparring i tend to think "oh shit" fairly often and run away as best possible. that will pass.

i think the ideal mindset, and the one ill end up with after a lot more sparring can be summarised as "if you hit me ill tear you apart". im relatively new to muay thai, so maybe the fighting based on anger will go completely... its starting to now.. but its something i dont want to completely lose. being really pissed off can be useful sometimes

as for injuries... not many. bruised knuckles and various cuts/grazes in the same place. legs battered to hell and limping might count but that doesnt take long to heal. once had a leg collapse completely on me while training... fine after 5 mins but wouldnt do anything i told it for the first few mins. dont know what that was.

possibly my first concussion tonight, but im hoping not. im yet to havea bleding nose let alone a broken one.... but since im really bad at keeping my hands up that just means im new to the game i think
