Cool

Many dudes think that this position is a "safe" one but it's not.

One way to attack is to have all your weight on the person's back to limit mobility, then pop up and pull up on the person's belt to open up the waist area and then you can put at least one if not both hooks in, then go to attack the neck.

Another vulnerable part is the ankles.

Chris just had us working on this one Wednesday. What he showed us was to work your hands around the waist and lock them together. Post on your head and then kick both legs over and then pull your arms towards you. Your opponent should land right in your host and you should be able to get your hooks in and start attacking. I hope I didn't make that sound too confusing.-ED

You might try just grabbing an ankle and picking it up to his butt and drive him forward.Keep your weight on him,but dont put your leg between his.Stay to the opposite side of the ankle you have .Drive him forward keeping your weight on him so he can't roll out.Sweepem is right. This is a transition position and one you dont want to stay in.But at the same time. There are a few good subs from there if your opponent reaches in too far.So be careful if you start reaching in to get a choke .He can kick out into some nice shoulder cranks and stuff from underneath too.

Aw....Dan Downward stole mine...

Well you can also pick an ankle farthest from you, and wrap your free arm around the farthest supporting arm of uke. Your arm should be under his chin, and grasping at the elbow (or wrist will work) of his farthest arm. Pull forward with both hands while pressing your chest into his side, and driving with your legs. He should flip right over onto his back to give you a great yokoshiho position. I used this numerous times at Machado academy with great success. You can find the move in judo, but they usually wrap both arms around the supporting limb. I like attacking the ankle.
Let me see if I can maybe find a pic...just in case this wasn't explained properly.

That first pic in the series Ryu posted is what I was warning about. If the guy on the bottom grabs that arm and shoots his legs out,he will have a nice shoulder lock by bridging once he comes around.

Question

but....in that first picture, he has a hand on the collar and the other on the ankle, right? where does the shoulder crank come in? with the hand on the collar you go for the wrist to bring it back into a keylock or what shoulder crank are you talking about?

Actually the hand is on the back of the collar, the other is under the arm and also deep inside the collar looking for a turn and a choke.
The ankle techniques I mentioned works great, but unfortunately I couldn't find the picture. This was a different technique I felt might also help.
