Hey, my school is brining Marcelo Garcia in for a seminar and im just wondering if any one here has trained with him, apparently hes the best in the world, two consecutive Abu Dhabi (sp?) wins in a row.
Its 150$ (canadian) for a week.... You can train I think twice a day, so 3 hours a day, although I doubt id be doing it twice a day... Anyone want to comment on this or think I should go or what, im debating it. Also I'm fairly new, well hell I am new, and I get lit up by most people, would I even be able to learn anything from him?

It seems like the really experienced teachers and BBJ guys is the attention to detail in every move they teach. Even with the most basic move they will show something new or overlooked before. Far as learning something...Ive heard you have to repeat a move over a million times to perfect it into a reaction. So you will learn something, maybe just one little thing, but if that one little thing is the one little thing you know more than your opponent, you win. Its baby steps, its taking bites outta the elephant, so you have to start somewhere |

mmmm elephant.... if learning bjj techniques is the equivalent of eating an elephant ... mmm... elephant...
I know what you mean about the small details though... for instance me trying to choke the life out of this guy and a purple belt walking by casually told me to touch my forehead to the ground... almost an instant tap out...freaky shit.... I may or may not do it, Im a poor student, so I will see if I have the cash. Anyone think I should challenge him to a fight?.... OH SNAP, I should challenge him to try to control me when I have a marker and hes wearing a white shirt... with two friends on a football field... hahahhahaha...

I have a DVD of a seminar that he did at my old club in Tokyo. Great stuff! I would definitely go to the seminar.
If you challenge him, make sure you're fighting knee deep in lava.
