the "move your car" option sounds civilized, but at the same time it is allowing him to get away with being an asshole and chances are that he will do it to someone else next time. Yes, he can mess up your car after you leave. That's why the police option sounds the best.

...of course...when I was a kid, all I could afford was gas and glue. I couldn't even afford my own gas...so I had to sit in parkinglots and siphon the fumes from running cars. ever seen somebody with a hose sticking out of their exhaust???

You did the right thing. But I'm confused about your reasoning for doing it. What does it matter if you have scriptures on your person or not?
It's a good thing that having it on you made you stop and think before you did something bad. But do you only believe in what they say when you're carrying them around? If you really believe in them then you should live your life as if you were ALWAYS carrying their message around, in your heart. And what does a USA shirt have to do with anything? I get even ANGRIER with people that do stupid shit in traffic when they have one of those "Support our Troops" stickers. I get even angrier when I see someone in a USA shirt doing something stupid. Just because someone else buys into this mainstream "I'm a patriot because I put stickers on my car and wear a t-shirt" bullshit doesn't mean you have to, too. If that guy was really patriotic he'd be out doing more important things for the country than bugging you about parking in front of his house. You 100% did the right thing though. |

I do but it's hard to change who you are/the way you are used to thinking. As for the usa thing let's just say that I have a guilt complex that if my relitive gets waxed in a combat zone I'd not be able to live with myself as he followed me into the military and I was the one who encouraged him in his career path and my aunt and uncle don't know any of this.

u know, walking away is really tough. especially when sometimes u really know that u can easily **** up the person u are having the problem with. but isnt that were the test is ? its so hard to walk away sometimes, that u have to do it just to challenge urself in my opnion. alot of times u dont think about the consequences when your in the heat of the moment. i think some people sometimes really go to far and deserve a beating, but if ur in a situation that isnt life threatening and is over petty shit, just walk away and dont let it escalate. it really isnt worth it, and its a true test of ones self to turn away, especially if u know the guy u who is barking at u doesnt even stand a chance vs ur many years of hard training.
i was in a situation not that long ago. some army guy wanted to fight me over bs. he had an attitude and thought he was the shit. he started yelling at me to pick up some beer cans that werent mine, and when i told them they didnt belong to me he got in my face and got even more pissed. he had no clue that 2 of my buddies who both train as well were right next to him and ready to stomp him. this guy was a real asshole too and mabye would have deserved it. however i reasoned with him for quite a while and de escalated the situation. i told him the beer cans werent mine, and i would have helped him pick em up if had just asked politely. i had to try really hard to stop anything from happening to this guy because he didnt calm down for a bit, and my buddies were aching to jump in. but i succeeded in difusing the situation and i really felt proud of myslef. my 2 friends didnt see it the way i did, they wanted to stomp this guy for being such a dick and told me that i should have just knocked this guy out instead of being nice to him. ive been able to de escalate a few other situations as well. i used to go to parties all the time and u know how drunk people are. the more and more i trained, the more it made me want to stop people from fighting and be passive. ive been successful at de escalating quite a number of situations. alot of people will act irrationally when they are mad, but if u can talk to them without an ego and get them to see that they are making a big deal out of something really minor u may be able to get them to calm down a bit. i dont know whats happening to me, the harder i train and the more i learn about martial arts, the more peaceloving and passive it makes me and i dont quite understand why. i was angry and bitter before i started training and always wanted to fight people. i think back then i felt i had to prove i was tough because i got picked on so much for being weak and was insecure. now that i train hard and have made so much progress i dont feel i need to prove anything. martial arts is helping me find a balance and better myself, which i think is one of the most important things in martial arts, not what style u train in, not how many people u can beat up or how tough u are. but the confidence, and positive changes in ones life that martial arts bring to people. |
