This was a post on the underground called 'Intent to Kill'. It's pretty interesting. Take a look.
"If someone attacks you, there is no way to gauge whether they just want to "give you a bloody nose and teach you a lesson" or if they want to kill you. In dealing with these situations I feel that the most appropriate is often the most drastic response. If I just intend to "tussel you up," but you are trying to kill me, then I am at a SERIOUS disadvantage. I have limits, inhibitions, and obstacles that will prevent me from winning. My assailant doesn't have to deal with these obstructions. I am at a serious disadvantage. Losing can sometimes cost you your life or permanent damage. Responding to an assualt without a "win at all costs" mindset can endanger your life. That is why the notion of a "fair fight" is, IMHO stupid. If I am attacked, I will eyegouge, bite, and grab any available object to either bludgeon or stab my attacker. How can I know for sure that he would not do the same thing?" Well. What did you guys think? He made sense, whoever wrote this.

Hard issues, and one that needs deeper thought than just "I'll kill them all" kind of attitude. Usually the people who think like this are the first to be killed ![]() But I do agree that on the street you sometimes do not know what the attacker might do...then unfortunately, you have to defend yourself the way you see fit. But it depends on your critical analysis. A drunk high school kid is NOT the same situation as a home invading murderer. There are definately degrees to severity. Even in the street. Otherwise you just end up dead or in jail. Use your head. Ryu

I think it is a good point. If you encounter a street situation you do know what the outcome will be. You need to have the mindset that you are capable of going as far as the situation will demand. If you don'[t begin with that mindset you can get yourself into a bad predicament. That doesn't mean you will have to rachet it up to that level but you have to have the willingness to go all the way.
