Upon rewatching to Penn vs Hughes fight, I really think he's an alright guy. After the fight, he didn't crack the shits, he was pretty accepting that he'd been bested. He seems to have respect towards the other fighters, and definately towards the UFC as an organisation.
I think he's a decent guy

he is a greta guy, 20% of his winnings go to an orphanage in mexico!
Its just so many people on this sight never made it to the lunch room with thier $$ in tact & very few others have ever got in a ring, I find if you actually fight full contact you love hughes for his skill, his training ethic & his work ethic, if you don't you find him arrogant because you don't fight.

I am curious about something though, BJJ guys why are so many wrestlers not only winning in the UFC, but it seems they are beggining to do great in Grapplers Quest tourneys as well, why is that if BJJ is so superior?

not sure, but BJJ owns the ADCC. Furthermore, where were the wrestlers when the UFC was just starting out? Oh, I know, they showed up with world class wrestlers like Dan Severn who GOT SCHOOLED BY A GUY 100LBS SMALLLER THAN HIM. Wrestling sure is superior lol

Don't forget, most of the "wrestlers" you speak of are no longer pure wrestlers anymore. They are all cross-trained, and spend a great deal of time expanding past their wrestling background. That means they spend a good amount of time doing BJJ or other submission grappling arts.

Default why

dude severen was 50! he was 50 years old! that is not exactly in his prime, same thing as saying that guy with one glove was a world class boxer please! 2ndly just as wrestlers have cross trained so do BJJ guys, they have no takedowns! why is cross training remove some guys from being wrestlers, but not others from being BJJ guys! even Gracie trained with russian wrestlers in florida, does that mean he isn't a BJJ guy any more? it is a some what foolish argument isn't it.

MMA is becoming its own sport, it isn't the spectacle it used to be thank God, and finally has some coponents of a real game,

one question OMA why do singlits look so gay, I think a gi looks like pajamas honestly, I have a boxing background & we laugh at guys who run around in white linen, it looks no better trust me.

Dan Severn was 50? Maybe he almost is today, but his date of birth is 6/9/58. If the UFC he first entered was in 94 or 95, that would mean he was 36-37 at the time!

still out of his prime, he wasn't even the best wrestler over 35 at that weight that would have bee bruce bumgartner (sorry for spelling) and if the rules where as they are today he would have won that fight anyway!

The rules werent as they were because it was style vs style, and the best technique wins in due time. BJJ cleary was the best of the best. There was no way to beat it if you went to the ground. Wrestling, no matter who it was, couldnt stop it either. And theres plenty of videos of the GRacies spanking wrestlers, not to mention Severn who wasnt 50 when he faught Royce, he was 35, younger than Couture. Again, you failed to address the greatest test of pure grappling on the planet, the ADCC, where BJJ guys win time after time. some of those guys were at one time wrestlers, but now they turned to BJJ to learn to finish people (Lister, Monson, Ricc, etc.)
You cant ever change the past, Royce and BJJ proved it was superior to every other martial art and wrestling. He won time and time again. No one could beat him, not even the Olympic Gold medal winner who was 100lbs heavier (that wasnt even of a handicap, now you cry for a younger wrestler, who would have been spanked even faster, watch Rickson tie wrestlers into knots in gracies in action 1and 2). BJJ is superior to wrestling in MMA,, period. You can win with just BJJ must better than with just wrestling.
So with 5 minute rounds of course we all know you better be good at all aspects, but funny Hughes the wrestling great couldnt even get Penn down, youd think it woulda been easier since 'wresters have such better takedowns' lol
