Default Krav Maga or MMA(Muay Thai/BJJ)

Hi folks,

Have been looking around my area for learning real true self defense.

There is an MMA(Muay Thai/BJJ) school and a Krav Maga school in my area.

I have researched both Muay Thai/BJJ and KM.

At work walking to the parking lot, I have been mugged and jumped a couple of times too many.

Just want to be able to defend myself and my family if necessary.

Seems to me KM is more practical.

Any comments?

Marc

Depends on the school. If you get mugged at gunpoint alot and want to avoid that. KM may be good for you. Unarmed Combat MMA all the way.

I'm not a fan of KM but why not try out both.

The few times I have gotten mugged was unarmed.

The situations I want to defend myself are as follows.

1) be able to defend myself in situations when walking to the parking lot from work

2) to be able to defend my family if necessary. Example being, and this has happened... somebody bumps into to you and wants to start a fight. Ideally you want to walk away, but sometimes you have to fight.

Those 2 situations, I want to learn.

To make this short....

and I've done both just to let you know my experience...

General self defense.. getting jumped... mugged... defending kids ... defending getting raped... getting attacked with an armed attacker... although in this case if they are just trying to rob you give them whatever they want eitehr way.

go with Krav Maga...

If you keep getting in "hey **** you buddy, im gonna kick your ass " situations... Id go the mixed martial arts route..
