Best advice I think would be, it's ok to tap! Don't try to be to tough. It's ok to tap; anyway that way you can come back and train. I've seen to many "macho" guys not tapping because of ego. Then they get hurt and have to stop training for 3 - 6 months because they broke something. Stay away from the jerk (if there is any). This is the guy that has technique and has won some tournament and will show off but might end up hurting you. Go get'em kid!

Stick with it. Starting is the toughest part and the longer you do it the more fun it becomes.

I wish I had started BJJ when I was 15. I wish I had started BJJ when I was 20 too.

Stick with it and you'll have a second black belt by the time you finish college. Or maybe grad school.

work on cardio, work on flexibility, when you have those at peak, you're far ahead of most dudes.....

oh and do as many sit ups as you can. Strong stomach muscles are very important.

If you're in great shape, have excellent cardio and flexibility, you'll do well.

Pump Iron, do you push ups on your knuckles, stretch every day.

Congrats, you are about to become a complete fighter.

last night i took the free trial class at az combat sports in tempe.it was awesome!i went with one of my friends who is also a blck belt.we learned an arm bar,a lapel choke, north to south and some other stuff.gustavo dantas wasnt there but i did get to see drew ficket.a purple belt who worked there took us aside from the class and taught us.at the end we got to roll with some of the guys, it was fun.the guy who taught us said we did really well and that he could tell we had some experience in martial arts.i am definitely signing up!
