This was just a thought, are you BJJ or any wrestler guys ever afraid of recieving a bite since the fighting is so close? I have seen wrestlers place their inappropriate parts near someones mouth simply because the rules do not allow biting but when your in the street in 'real' life situation, there is a huge risk of being bitten. Any thoughts now that your testicles may be 'tested' when doing an arm bar?

It's physically impossible for you to bite my nuts while I'm armbarring you. Your own arm is blocking them. All you can bite is my calf, and if you do that I'll destroy your arm.
As to techniques like triangles that do somewhat expose the nuts...if you can bite through my jeans before I sink it in (at which point it's physically impossible to bite there again) or switch to an armbar, yes, I guess I'm in a world of hurt. Why don't you go to your closet and see if you can tear out the crotch of some jeans with your teeth. |

they don't have to bite through it at all, You can get bit witout it ripping, but the preasure will still cause extreem pain, especially on the genetals. Also, there are plenty of instances where biting could occur outside of armbars/triangles. when you have someones ack they could try to bite into your arm or something, there are countless examples. I think that "dirty" real street self defence techniques like gouging eyes and biting should be analyzed so that a martial artist knows how to defend them and perform them when absolutely necissary.

I think you're referring to the triangle in particular. Once the triangle is sunken in, you can put both hands on his head and pull down and he won't be able to bite.

If you execute your moves fast enough i don't think theyll have time to bite your nuts or whatever, but the only thing im afraid of is getting bitten in my nuts the other parts could be stopped by gouging their eyes, if they play it dirty don't be afraid to use the best method possible to stop them, however, as a sport im pretty sure people would rather lose a match than get banned from fighting or getting serious penalties which could ruin their reputatation :P

If someone tried to bite my nuts when I had them in a trinagle choke, I certainly wouldn't be pulling their head down, not because effectiveness, just because I would rather punch them in the face or fishhook them.

Come to think about it, biting could be used in the clinch, cross body and in the guard. It'd bring about a new awareness to your training for sure.
What's the art that vunak teaches? Viscious biting!

theres actually alot of times were people in grappling will put their crotch on your face, especially when they are on top of u in north and south and move up to try and shoulder lock u or arm bar u. u can easily bite their crotch in this position, and its something id do in the street if i was to find myself in such a position. i say learn to completely avoid moving up from north and south and putting your crotch on the opponents face, it can be a real danger. but as somene said, if u are good enough and fast enough, they will have a broken limb before they are able to bite. and when ur shoulder is popped out of its socket and its tendons are torn, or ur elbow has just been shattered into multiple pieces and is busting out of ur skin, u probobly arent going to be thinking about much other than the agony of ur destroyed limb.

Donn Draeger also mentions that an extraordinary component of Timorese pentjak silat is their biting tactics for close quarters! His guide bit chunks off a plank of wood to demonstrate his skill! ![]()
