I find myself getting reverse triangles on people quite a bit, however it's usally when I am on the bottom. (I am on my back on their left side, head towards their feet, with my left leg over the back of their neck and my right leg on the outside of their posting right arm. Their left arm is free)
How should I go about finishing this? I've managed to do it once or twice by grabbing my own left leg and using my arms and hips to apply the choke, but otherwise I have no idea how to properly finish this. Grabbing their right arm so they can't post seems to help sometimes. |

Here's the "ideal" triangle for me when trapping his own right arm...
I am at about a 45 degree angle in front of him. His left arm is free. My right leg is wrapped around the back of his neck. My left leg is used to hook and tighten down on my right ankle. His right arm is caught inside my left leg, while my right upper leg is squeezing the left side of his neck. I lenghten out his right arm and push it across his neck towards his left arm. I tighten the pressure on the back of his neck by squeezing inward with my left leg, which clamps down on my right lower leg. I pull his head down to increase the pressure overall as I sink down my back and hip up a bit. |

It's tricky to get a tapout from the reverse triangle, but you can always stick it on as a distraction, then go for the closest arm - shoulder lock (his wrist behind his back, or the other way ala americana if the angle's right) or a wrist lock?
Just don't give him time to posture up & counter... |
