Default Attacking Turtle

Any advice on attacking someone who's turtled up? I'm interested to hear people's favourite attacks or tactics.

Also, I am smaller than average, so when I am taking people's back, I find it hard to keep my weight on them while getting a hook in and I often end up off balance so that they can throw me off easily. Any tips?

I assume you are on the side of them when they are turtling?

For instance they are turtling and you are on their left side, first things first...

take your left knee, and shove it as far under their belly as you can, and push all your weight down, keep a low base, this will prevent them from rolling you and allow you to roll them.

I generally would then put my right arm under their right arm and clasp my hands or wrists together...

From here I tend to attempt one of two armbars or work for the back mount/hooks....

You asked about the mount so....

with your knee shoved so far in, and your hands clasped, you simply have to roll back and you will have their back and can easily sink at least one hook ( the one where your knee was....

Then you can fight for another hook as you work for the choke... or.. if you have trouble getting hooks... just figure 4 the fucker... another thing, never cross your legs at the ankles, or you will get subbed... ummm

If you really cant work the hooks go for the figure four...

I've heard of this one move where you lock your arms around him (one arm over his shoulder another under, kinda like a front head lock except behind him), hug him close to you, then roll over them so your head is pointing towards his crotch and your feet are pointing in the same direction as his head, then pull hard, he should roll too and you'll end up in back mount. I'm not sure how this works exactly because all I do when they turtle up is use some wrestling breakdown to get them back on their back and me in either side control or mount.

Some very helpful tips there, especially about controlling their movement and stopping them from rolling away.

Thanks guys.
