Default What its about.

Hey guys. It is me doing various wingchun hand technique, and it has also got a clip of me performing a 1"palm. Just thought it would be good to get some comments or some advice. Its not well edited but I also have a clip on the vid, where I use a technique which could be termed "whipstrenghth", I try to make a whipping " snap in the air as I throw my arm and fist, IT IS A ROTARY FORCE.

well, if you want some comments, I'd like to ask you if you think that stuff will be effective in a fight? I mean, you have very little body weight behind those punches (actually, wing chun has, not you specifically).
So if you train wing chun just for fun and a work out that's fine, but otherwise... I think you should think about what really works.
I mean you seem to be fast and athletic, so you could put that talent to better use doing something more effective than wing chun, which is one of the weaker MAs afaik. But if you're only interested in the workout then it's all good.

Default Gabbah, gabbering codswallup

Now I know that you talk pish!! lol hehe. I was not show effective street fighting technique, thats why I said wing chun. lol. you crack me up. How can a ma be weaker that another. You forget fighting is not like trying to reconstruct a complicated COG, using specialist tools, Its like hitting a nail into a peice of wood. Now how easy is that. I would chalenge you no matter how heavy you were it doesnt matter, you rely on your strenghth. People who dont achieve, fix themselves to material pocessions so they have somthing the have earned. Take time to look into who i am, before you say im ineffective. Ive been doing Muiy thai for 4y and wing chun for 12. I train 4 times a day and I have a shot at a brittish MMa title on Dec11
respect j

So you are not showing what works in a fight, you are showing wing chun?
Ok, so basically what you're saying is that wing chun is not for fighting or did I get you wrong?

Actually I don't... I'm very fascinated with the techincal aspect of fighting, so that's why I was talking about "body weight behind punches", I just find it interesting.

Ok I don't know what you're trying to say with that...

For me you're a guy an a forum, so we should be able to discuss matters with respect and without insulting each other, don't you agree?
Also, I did not say you were ineffective in a fight... I was only talking about wing chun technique in general.

Cool, and congrats on your title shot, hope you do well!

I would really like to know what wing chun techniques you actually use in your mma fights (or maybe in your muay thai fights?). Wich ones do you feel work "for real"? Also, do you ever use wing chun footwork in mma or muay thai fights?

Default The vertical fist

this is the main wing chun technique I use in MMa(or kickboxing) as the allignment of elbow and fist genrates a greater base of support. Remember weight is the same as penetration through resistance. Try this. Hold your hand in front of you in conventional horizontal fist. have someone push your outstretched fist, you will feel you body being turned(rotary) if you do the same with a vertical fist(thum up top), you will feel the force being redirected into the floor. This is all to do with leverage. If you can direct force to the floor, you full it from there also, when your fist contacts, you tense and the good allignment means you can through your deltoids into play. Just like theres no right way down a hill, its when you get there that counts. respects
