Default Georges St Pierre

Wow, last time I saw this guy fight, what 2 months or so ago, he came in wearing his GI and had a purple belt wrapped around it. I joked to my friend who is a purple also, that you can take this guy, and whatever ........so tonight Georges comes marching in wearing what I thought was a brown belt but closer view it was BLACK ! He went from purple to black like Vitor did? As good as georges is, great on the ground, excellent sprawl and all around, why would they hand him a black belt??

Yes I was thinking it could have been a belt in a different art but the GI I didnt think it was, who knows, I just hope they dont hand out black belts to everyone who is "pretty good". Im a blue by the way. about 2 years of BJJ and havent trained in like 6 months so not on top of my game.

It used to be or still is that to give out a black belt to a student you had to be at least a 3rd degree black. So a new black cant hand out blacks to any brown, but then Jeff Higgs (i think it was) handed out a black to Dean Lister. Now Lister deserved the black but his master Fabio wouldnt give it to him because Dean was training no GI and disputing things with Fabio. So Dean left and got his "black", he deserved it totally no question but there are others that dont. I wont argue with them about though in person

Apparently Georges was a very very good purple belt before he went to train with Renzo in preparation for the Penn fight....

Obviously weeks of personal training with Renzo is gonna send your game through the roof... I still doubt the jump from purple to black... maybe it was a brown.. or possibly his karate belt....

Whatever he doesnt wear it in the octagon, doesnt bother me.
