Ok heres the deal. In society we were given choices on what we wanted to base a study project/report on any subject. Naturally, I chose MMA. I need arguements/EVIDENCE on how the Media portrays and sensationalizes stereotypes and false beliefs in MMA. I also want to argue how its ethnocentric to judge a sport in a negative way when sports such as boxing are seen as more civil because it has been in our country for longer. What kind of stuff do you guys think I should put into it?
Any news articles out there? On McCain? News reports? Essays? Any non biased reports for PRO-MMA? [Edited by YeLLa-TiGeR on 01-13-2001 at 02:21 PM]

Da da daa da daaaaaa! Here I am, YeLLa, just like you asked ![]() Seriously though it's an interesting project if you can do it right. First thing is that you have to back up your evidence with facts and NOT opinions (unless told otherwise). This is what hits them where it hurts and pisses people off the most who don't agree with you LOL. Okay joking aside, it is important to be objective in a paper like this. I think you very well could include aspects of media that sensationalize things too much, but you may want to include some examples of media exploitation that are not MMA related as well. I'm not too sure where to find the arguments and articles you're looking for, but the internet might have some for you. I don't know the specifics of your assignment so I can't say too much here, but definately find issues to talk about relating to media sensationalism (that in itself might even be a better topic since MMA is so foreign to people) but if you want to really keep it with MMA then you need to figure out what issues you want to talk about, HOW you can prove your opinions with facts, and WHERE to find those facts. Then put them into your paper in a clear and flowing way, and you should be able to make your voice heard. The most important thing I can say, is back up your opinions. WHY is MMA not as "bad" as boxing? What are the statistics, what goes on behind the scenes, etc. Writing these kinds of papers can be fun as hell. I had a philo professor who was really into moral relativism. I hate moral relativism, and I wrote a paper against it, and tearing it apart. Because the paper was so well written, NOT merely opinions, but actual scientific facts, research, and logical reasoning, the professor had to reluctantly give me an "A" even though I'm sure it got under her skin ![]() muahahaha! So writing is a great way to vent your frusterations and everything else, while proving your side of an issue. Good luck! Ryu
