Yeah, I would just give up...that's exactly what I said...
Can you stop being colossal tools for 2 seconds and try using some logic and common sense. How often do you think you're going to find yourself in a situation where you're facing one attacker never mind multiple attackers? Seriously? And if you're finding yourself in that situation often you have bigger issues to worry about than what martial art to study. You're obviously making some pretty poor lifestyle choices. I can count the number of physical altercations I've had in my adult life on one hand (I'm 30) and I'm ashamed to admit that none of them were necessary, immaturity and ego just wouldn't allow me to walk away. Thankfully nothing disastrous happened, no one pulled a knife or a gun, no ones head was smashed open on a curb, no one ended up dead. Anytime you decide to settle an altercation with violence any of those scenarios could happen and you could end up fighting nightly to keep your cellmates cock out of your ass as you sit in prison for manslaughter. Or perhaps wearing a diaper and drooling because you have severe brain damage from having someone repeatedly jump on your head. The best self defense is to keep your wits about you, be cognizant of your surroundings, walk away whenever possible and avoid dodgy situations. Anyone who tells you anything different isn't worth listening to. *edit* Quote:

This is incredibly naive. I don't know where you've spent your life but there are some very desperate and very bad people out there. Personally I live and work in a major city, and a quick google search tells me that there were 7922 violent crimes in my home town last year. Did all 7922 victims make poor lifestyle choices? Does going to the grocery store after dark constitute a poor lifestyle choice? The fact is anyone can become a victim at any time, you and me included. Quote:

wow little miss prissy pants certainly got excited...so what part of fantasy land do you live in? No one ever attacks anyone where you live....no one ever hijacked a plane or invaded a home....so how far from the bad people do you live? .....what were the people doing wrong that got killed eating in lubys? we are all so proud you and your cashmere gang wearing friends didnt hurt each other while tussling under the watchful eye of your nannies.... and one last thing what kind of person carries a weapon? one aware enough of his enviroment to realize there are dangerous people in it....even though your mommie assures you different. |

I find it amusing that you feel that because I don't ferret out confrontations and feel no need to prove my masculinity by having senseless physical altercations that I am a "prissy pants"? I think I'm beginning to understand why you need to carry weapons. |

) and they can be extremely unpredictable. I don't have anything to prove to anyone, and I really don't understand why you want to make this about a bunch of macho B.S.. There are plenty of confrontations that you might have to deal with without ever "ferreting them out".

so the world is a safer place every day huh?... America only has trouble because we are a violent drug infested society and we oppress the world huh? wow i didnt realize how many 80 yr old pot growing gangsters we had in america....Many of our home invasion victims are senior citizens or college girls...not pot growing gangsters The right to bear arms is there for a reason....its our patriotic duty to carry...just like its our duty to serve jury duty and vote...its a right...and a duty. You live in canada, its your duty to buy into the socialist crap they spew, sounds like you're a good citizen. |

The point I was trying to make is that all this arguing about which MA is best for self defense, fighting multiple attackers, beating up your dad, whatever...it's all stupid.
If protecting yourself is all you're after go take a woman's self defense course at the YWCA...they'll teach you to instinctively attack the throat, gouge the eyes, headbutt, use elbows and knees and lots of other "techniques" to disable an "attacker" as quickly as possible. Hell it would probably help you in a street fight a hell of a lot faster than than any martial art. You'll even get a cool whistle to blow whenever you're in trouble I think if you look at whatever MA you choose to study it as a sport and do your best to become fit and excel at it you will reap the benefit of being able to handle yourself very well if the situation arises. |

Ah yes, you have the security born of being a citizen of such an insignificant jerk-water nothing of a country that no one would bother with you even if you weren't enjoying the benefit and protection of your far superior neighbor.
