![]() | ![]() Just picked up a lady friend of mine who was coming in from Tokyo, and she told me that she had finally seen Pride. I asked her what she thought, and she said it scared her, and she shut it off. Apparently she saw the Pride show where Kaz snapped Renzo's arm off, and because of the fighters kicking each others' asses, and Renzo's arm popping out of its socket, I had to spend the 30 minute drive explaining to her how I could watch that and NOT be a masochist, violent guy who likes to hurt people...LOL! ![]() stupid Pride! Anyone else ever get that ashamed feeling when someone (usually a woman) says "you WATCH that no rules stuff?" Ryu

![]() | ryu... in may i went to japan to watch the Pride GP Finals. my girlfriend was with me. she got "bothered" almost right from the beggining when sak had royce's arm extend. unlike your female friend's experience, she couldn't turn anything off. she sat through the whole thing. it was her first experience with NHB. as the nigght went on, she was fine. it was just the initial shock that here's a guy who just might get his arm snapped, and i told her that if it did snap he may not quit. he may try to continue. i the notion of this posibly happening is what sickened her the most. what a good boyfrriend i am (lol).

![]() | My wife really doesn't comment either way about NHB. She wouldn't sit through a whole tape and watch it, but she has watched a fight or two when I have (guy) friends over to watch either UFC or PRIDE fights. She's used to watching boxing 'cause I boxed for 10 years, and she came to almost all my fights. At first my fights never bothered her, but the more I fought (and the more she watched), the more she disapproved, ESPECIALLY when I got hurt by a good shot. She thinks that the guys that would sustain a dislocated elbow, etc., rather than tapping are crazy. And when I explain that for some it all boils down to ones PRIDE, she just says something like..."Oh well, to each his own". And on that note, we both agree. ![]() | A lot of people think that MMA athletes and fans are bloodthirsty barbarians, but how many other sports can you think of where the competitors consistently and sincerely HUG each other afterwards. Although a lot of the time it seems less like a sign of respect and more of a way of saying thank god my head is still attached to my shoulders after that.
