New Rickson Gracie Interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a new interview from BB Magazine.I'm not writing every q&a because some arent worth it.

Part 1(Part 2 to be written in the April issue of BB.)

BB- Are you retired?
Rickson-No

BB- Do you have any fights planned?
Rickson- I havent signed for any new fights,but there are always proposals I have to evaluate to see whats best for me.But I only plann to fight once a year,so I have time to decide when my next fight will be.In 2001 I will probably fight again.

The guy asks where it will be and Rickson doesnt know.He says he considers money,location,and opponent when he fights.But mainly if the Sport will benefit,and wants to promote the good side of NHB.Talks about why Jiu-Jitsu is respondable for violnce because problem kids have Jiu-Jitsu put into there hands and they go out and fight.Then talks abput why its hard to "Fight it out" in America people will sue you for fighting.Talks about the "Freindly" rivalry between Jiu-Jitsu fighters and Luta Livre.

BB- Apparently not all Jiu-Jitsu fighters in Brazil think so highly of other Jiu-Jitsu fighters.For example,it seems like everyone in the Gracie Family and alot outside the family have a problem with Wallid Ismail,the man who choked out Royce on December 17, 1998.Why is that?
Rickson-Wallid is a very interesting character because he combines special elements.He was never a great fighter,but he knows how to promote himself so that every time he has the opportunity,he makes it seem like he is the best,and will always be the best.He says that he can beat anyone easily and has done this and that.Everyone who has a normal sense of what is write and wrong knows he goes a little overboard.But I dont have any hard feelings against Wallid because hes just ... Never played in my league.I've never felt like hes someone that I have to respect as a fighter.He's always been average.

BB- Do you think hes better at Jiu-Jitsu than NHB?
Rickson- Because he plays using endurance,using tactics to stall the fight-maybe with a gi(Uniform) he can get better results.In NHB you have to be more technicle fighter,so he has more problems.I think he should stay in Jiu-Jitsu.

There is a page and a half of Sakaraba questions so here is the short version.
Rickson says "Sakaraba is not a great puncher or a Submission fighter.He just stays calm and takes advantage of openings" He then says a fighter can beat him if he doesnt give Sak any openings.He says he feels no pressure to fight Sak to protect the family name because he says that the family will always be respected and he doesnt think that winning or losing will shake it.Then talks about his fight with Funaki.He says that the ref couldnt stop the fight.The only way a fight was won was by tap or towl being thrown in.He sayd when he let go of Funaki he was already out.If he would have kept holding it he would have killed him.

I would say it showes that he thinks Royce sucks and he is scared of Sak and he wont fight unless it is a scrub.He is riding the Gracie gravy train and couldnt give a sh!t about anything exept his pocket book.Rickson is old.His techniques are old.His game is old.
Wrestlers are the dominate force in real one on one combat.
BJJ is just a tool to add to a good crosstrainers arsenal.

Angel I think you got it all wrong.

Logic dictates that this interview proves Rickson is far better than Sak.

Let me try and explain it for the slow and stupid:

Fact #1- Every fighter on this planet respects Saks abilities
Fact #2- Rickson doesn't respect Saks abilities.

Now lets think; Why could that be? I will tell you why because even though the answer is staring you right in the face you will never grasp it without any help;
because Sak is better than every other fighter out there....except for Rickson.

Look, if Ricksons skills are so good that he doesn't respect Saks, then you have to admit he is the best fighter alive.

Ok I'm maybe wrong on this but what your telling me is that you respect a guy and love a guy who really dont respect a other guy Sak in a "sport" that is suppose to be all about respect. So that mean that you respected Tito Ortiz when he was shooting at the lion's den fighter, dont get me wrong I like Tito but it seems to get your respect you must not respect some1 who is in the top fighter in the world?

sorry if I came off a little strong before. I am glad to see that you are smart enough to know when you are wrong, and adjust your perspective accordingly.

If I was a fighter, then only if one of these "top fighters" could beat me would I respect their abilities. Tito didn't respect the lions den guys because he knew he was better, just as Rickson doesn't respect Saks abilities because he knows he is better than Sak.

Lets put it this way Angel;
Your the best downhill skier in the world, but you are sitting this Olympics out. As you watch it on TV you see that the "worlds best skiers" runs down the hill are slower than your worst practice runs....are you going to respect thier abilities? Of course not.
