When I first began BJJ I actually used one of those pro-force karate gi's that I had from my McDojo years. All I did was cut off those little ties that keep the gi top together. I sewed a brazilian flag to one shoulder and a japanese flag to the other shoulder, I was pro!

I used it for about a year before it started wearing out.

Dont take the arms up too much, you want long sleeves for the "ezekiel choke"

I use size 5 Rising Sun "Shoto" gi for my karate. I think it's 16oz.

The Ezekiel choke (or however you want to spell it) is a relatively easy choke to apply using your sleeves.

Have a look at this site http://bjj.org/techniques/bjjfighter/gi/guard/eziquiel/ for some pictures and detailed explanation.

It does to an extent, but if you keep your head close, you can minimize his leverage. It also works well (better even) from the mount. Yoshida used it to beat Tamura in Pride (2003?).

Edit: I love google video. Here's the clip. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...=Yoshida+Pride
