![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the earliest record of organized fighting with striking and grappling goes back to ancient Greek civilization and the need for competitive entertainment. The event was called pankration and allowed all kinds of brutal techniques in addition to grappling and striking. So, the closest answer to that would be...."Your grandmother after drinking corn-whiskey" if that makes sense |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Sorry, I'm going to be serious too. I don't think Mixed Martial Arts were ever invented. Initially there were no bariers or restrictions. It was the divisions that were invented. The more "mixed" the training is, the less invented it becomes. |

![]() | Lol nice thread. Seriously though if you read any history of the martial arts, people have been mixing styles since there were styles to be mixed! I voted grandma an her corn whisky by the way. Makes me think of that SNL skit with Tracy Morgan and Grandpa Jamima and his Mash Liqour! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I found this in an old book, pre Bruce Lee... His name was Ida Bagus Oka Dinwangkara. He synthisized pentjak silat with Japanese Ju-Jutsu, (Judo) Aikido, Karatedo and western boxing back in 1955.
