I thought maybe some of you might not have read the news on
Jackie Chan temporary paralyzed during shooting of Accidental Spy!

I just found some disturbing news about Jackie's back problems. We all know that in these past few years, Jackie has had problems with his spine.. and because of that, he couldnt do certain stunts/moves in his movies. But the condition has taken a turn for the worse.. Thanks to Jewel for posting this on the JackieChan.com Message Board.

I was watching the Coolala TV show a moment ago, and they were interviewing Teddy Chen, director of Accidental Spy. He told the interviewer how worried he was during everyday of shooting of the film, not because of working with Jackie, but something else:
Right up to a week before the shooting of Accidental Spy began, Jackie was on his way to US to promote Shanghai Noon. On the plane he suddenly suffered a temporary paralysis, and was unable to lift even a finger. So when the plane landed, his crew immediately rushed him to the hospital. This is what the doctor said to Jackie after examination:

"You know as well as I do what happened to you. Certain sections of your spine had suffered so many severe injuries that, if you had another serious accident, you could be paralysed for life. But I know you won't listen to me, so just be careful."

When Jackie returned to Hong Kong he told Teddy Chen what happened, and Teddy gave a bitter smile and thought, "Great! A week before shooting and now you tell me this." So during everyday of the shoot, especially after an action sequence, Teddy would try to keep Jackie from overworking. But, Jackie, a person with such passion and energy, always wanted to have one more take. Luckily for Teddy, he has another experienced stunt coordinator, Tung Wai, to assure Jackie that what he just did was great.

So try to enjoy Accidental Spy with that in mind.
