Default World Cage Fighting Championship - No Guts No Glory

World Cage Fighting Championship - No Guts No Glory
by Jimmy Boogaloo

The World Cage Fighting Championship emblem

Amid a whirlwind of national media coverage, the World Cage Fighting Championship staged their first show in the massive M.E.N. arena in Manchester. Boasting a knock-out middleweight tournament, individual superfights and a guest appearance from Mike Tyson, the show pulled in a large, noisy crowd.

Bas takes the mike and gets a great reception from the crowd

Default WCFC - poorly promoted event for the sport

In regards to this event, although it got alot of big names such as Baz and Tyson doing the promotions, the whole thing was advertised on posters and in the papers as being a no holds barred event, with little or no rules.

Obviously people on this forum understand MMA and rules and skill involved, however 99% of the general public do not.

The news papers stated the event was a first for England, which it was not and personnaly appart from Overstem, the amount of top quality fighters were class B - C at the most.

If this event was to publicise MMA it did a bad job and only stengthened missunderstanding and down graded a sport we love.
Most people you tell about MMa think you are mad for doing it, and who can blame them when they read this Sh*t in the papers.

Personnally I beleive MMA should be in a ring or mat but not a cage, as it gives a wrong image and attracts the wrong type of attention. Tysons light hearted comments regarding only stopping a fight when an eye ball pops out is also stupid, when the press are waiting to write negative aspects.
