Do you think the Police are well trained in unarmed combat and restraint?
I'm from the UK, so our police force is a little bit different. But I have many students that are police officers and their training from the Police rubbish. Even with their weapons, in UK that's Asp, CS and public order batton, they can't fight for toffee. They need better training, they get a couple of days a year refresher course, that's it. They get trained through the Centrex system, which is a sham. I feel really safe!!! Please post me about it.

I have seen the SFPD parked at the local donut shop either smoking or stuffing their face, does that answer your question?

Here in Humboldt Co. Ca. USA. If you scare a deputy or have anything in your hand that LOOKS like a weapon of any kind the policy seems to be shoot first, ask later! And never try to scratch your butt after they draw a weapon on you! It's about the same as pulling out your wallet for ID or drawing that invisible weapon out of your waistband...Just the thing they need to justify putting holes in you...

DPS Troopers (the Texas State Police) were using full contact boxing drills where trainees were basically padding up and whaling on each other full contact, not even really training any skills, just a free for all to get the trainees used to violent confrontation. They've suspended it because there were some serious head injuries, and even a death or two. |

My instructor (who is proficient in many arts) told me about a time when he was hired to personally train a guy who was either FBI or Secret Service. I don't recall which (He has worked with both in the past). Anyway, this guy was training on his own time. This wasn't required by his job. He just wanted to train and figured he could write it off as a work expense. My instructor said that when he first started with the guy, he was pretty poorly trained. They worked hand to hand and this guy would get hit or wrestled down and choked in no time. They also worked with weapons. My instructor would attack this guy with a rubber knife and pretty much butcher the guy. FBI guy couldn't disarm my instructor. Kinda scary that this guy was in charge of protecting people.
Since then, he has trained the FBI guy well and so now he's equipped to deal with serious threats. Still, it's clear that law enforcement, and not just police, need better training. |

The Police seem to be getting worst and worst. We have shows on TV, you have something like it I'm sure, when you have one guy and it takes 8 to 10 Police to put him on the floor.
Is this where the do-nut training comes in?

My mate had a bust up with three coppers a month or so back. They didn't use their battons or anything, they just tried to pile on him so that he couldn't move. They got pretty beat up before they could sit on him, like a few fat lips and bloodied noses. Considering there was three of them and only one of him, they must be a bunge of pansies.

Theres a huge problem because if a copper does use strength or 'violence' to neutralise a threat then (s)he could get in serious trouble. I love the suing nature U.S.A has brought us...

If they had pulled batons and beat your friend into the hospital, would you be posting that they were a bunch of facists pigs? Sounds like they did your friend a favor (a favor he didn't deserve, probably).
