How about defense against a side head lock?
Or against a Forward push?

And I believe it's the simplest one I've ever seen. I love watching all the fancy grappling moves that leave you goin' "How'd he do that?!?" but the simple easy techniques are always the best (imo).

Agreed.

I guess it depends on the situation too. Making someone let go and loose their balance could be an appropriate response for one situation, while twisting them up and using your elbow to break the face could be good for another.

Against a side hedlock (there body is slightly in front of yours).

Use your rear hand to scoop up the leg closest to you, use the hand that's kinda behind the guy to either press (friendly) against his jaw and drive him downawrd to his side (your hands are the steering wheel, while your legs are the engine/wheels).

The unfriendly version, the press becomes a palm strike to the jaw and goes past his head.

There's a good chance you will then land in a side mount!

I've used this one a ton back in my highschool days. It allways worked. Hey how old are you ?

There's another move if they try to roll-tackle you from the headlock position...

Against a shove?

Grab their arms and pull them around. You'll pull them off balance, but its going to escalate.

or

Push them back. Usually they will either shove you again to which you can mess with their balance or he's gonna try to deck you, so you better be ready to get those hands up!

I'm 13 and i want to get in to BJJ during the summer or gi less BJJ with my wrestling. I saw that roll through thing looks good. On the matt furey tape he dows something funny like land on your butt kicking out the leg (hard to esplain).
Against a push i would either pop the hands and shoot or arm drag or catch the fingers and YANK!
I'm watching the royce gracie tribute right now which is inspiring me to do BJJ.

right getting back to the original question, i would say there is a really simple way of dealing with this, if its a too handed grab break it clean off by striking his wrists in alternate directions e.g with ur left hand strike down on his right wrist breaking his hand away and with ur right hand strike upwards on his left wrist, quick effective and doesnt involve flying arm bar knee chops like some ppl were suggesting lol sorry for the sarcasm!!

one handed garb, he is most likely setting u up for a big swing or sumit, just spit in his face, kick him in the balls or in the knee cap or sumit, no matter how long his arms are u most likely will always be able to get in ther with a kick!

Here's self-defense against a woman's attempt at a lapel grab.

1. Give her the "I wanna ravage you" look.
2. Encompass her grabbing hand in your hand.
3. Smooch.
4. If she grabs items of clothing more south of the shirt, use the aikido concept of going with the flow....
