ON a related note, I found this great book at a used bookstore near my work, "Taekwondo" By Richardo Cho, published in 1973 its a huge hardbound book. Anyway, it has takedowns, leg locks, arm locks etc and many hand techniques it also has quite a bit of hand techniques..more of them than the kicking techniques actually, all I can say is that modern sport taekwondo has really lost a lot of stuff, actually in the back of this book it has the rules for the 1st world taekwondo championships, the rules are basically the same as the early UFCs!!! No eye attacks, no kicks when the opponent is down but that is basically it..punches are all allowed, knife hands, takedowns..wow its very cool.

That is interesting! I am really surprised. I thought TKD was all about kicks and that even the non-olypicized TKD wasn't much more.

Its a cool book they have knife and gun attack stuff too from reading this you'd think a Taekwondoga would do pretty damn well in the UFC...its really sad that this exciting and powerful art has been watered down so much, olympic style taekwondo has NOTHING to do with real taekwondo.

I agree if one could find a school that teaches real TKD people would think different about that martial art. I know of the book that you are speaking of and it is really a good book, better than most that are out there. Don't let others pressure you into taking up an other art. If you like TKD stick with it and train hard. It seems to be the consenus in this forum that all other martial arts suck and BJJ is the best out there. Don't let others make up your mind, after all it is what you get out of the training not what others think you should get out of it.

My knees have been feeling better lately, I am sticking with TKD until they fall off. heh heh heh for what its worth, Kimo was a Taekwondo practitioner heheh although in UFC 3 I didn't see much TKD I don't think..hmm maybe some footwork? I dunno.

An art is only as good as its practitioner, UFC 4 BJJ alternate got his ass kicked by a kickboxer. "Ultimate Ultimate" that huge Carlson Gracie guy got taken down by ..hmm a kickboxer maybe?
