Default girls

I have a lot of girls that train at my school in bjj and kickboxing - one of the girls is like 110 lbs and almost at purple belt level in bjj and she gives me a real hard time when we wrestle - at my school the women are treated exactly like the guys and i have produced some great female fighters - I had one girl that was all shy at first to grapple and would come to class and be all scared of getting hurt - i remeber the first time she got choked she started crying...and 4 years later she is so tough that i cant tap her out and she is winning tournaments all over the world. women like men need more than a weekend seminar to learn to fight but i also think there is nothing wrong with men teaching women - besides girls smell better when you wrestle them

A while back I posted a thread about women's self defense, I have a female friend interested in learning. I drew the same conclusions that are being stated in this thread but it's nice that there is an actual female posting on this thread. I never got any posts from a women's perspective on my thread.

My conclusions were just what grapplegirl said, it will take time to learn, no 10 easy lessons to be a badass. Plus she must train for real, no going easy on her just because she's a girl.

I think Grapple Girl COULD beat a 200lb guy in a street fight.

Sometimes we forget how easy it is to do BJJ technques on your average street thug. Many people get so caught up worrying about MMA sport they forget that against an untrained person, BJJ is simply devastating.

No need to grapple for 20 minutes. I'd bet my paycheck that GrappleGirl could slap and armbar from the guard on a 200lb thug in 5 seconds.

Remember that an untrained person would never expect something as "crazy" as a juji from the guard. It never enters their mind. Their arm is broken before they even realize what's happening.

That's what martial arts are for.

I have seen several Women's self defense courses. Mainly they are not going to teach a woman to fight, but to be alert and aware. They teach avoidance; not to go from crime scene 1 to crime scene 2; assertiveness "NO"; and areas to attack - eye gouging etc. Not everyone is going to be a Michelle. But they all need to be aware. And you guys need to train with women more often. They can be really nasty!

Hi Guys

I am glad this thread is still alive!! I like it when women get some attention not just because of them being a woman but for the fact that they are training. I probally could beat the average 200lb guy in a street fight but I would not want to find out! If any of you have women in your club training or have a wife that trains keep her going and incourage her to train. She don't have to make it to my level a pro nhb fighter, but as long as she wants to train and have fun thats the important thing. I dont have to tell you guys about the politicians wanting to end the sport of NHB you guys already know that, thats why women are important to the game right now. If these politicians see that it is safe enough for a woman to do then hell it must be ok and safe enough for men. And getting back to women training in your club try and make them comfortable in the club keep a eye on guys trying to pick them up!1 The club isnt a social club for picking up dates. I keep a eye on the women that come too our club to train if I see a guy flirting or trying to pick them up I pull the guy a side and tell him to stop the shit. And it goes the other way too if you see the woman picking up on the guys have a talk with her and tell her to knock it off. What people do outside of the club is one thing but in the club its time too train.
