Who has been to grappling seminars?

Who has taught the best one, and why?

Whose has been not worth the money, and why?

(Just trying to get some new topics going!)

Two seminars stand out for me - Dan Inosanto's Shoot-wrestling section of his two day seminar (the other sections were Jun Fan GF, FMA, and Silat), and Murilo Bustamante, BJJ. Guro Dan was great just because of the wealth of information he presented. The Busta seminar was great because it was relatively small - maybe a dozen people, so we all had the chance to roll with him at the end.

The worst seminar was a knife defense seminar (some standing grappling was taught) hosted by a non-contact TKD club. We learned how a spinning back kick could defeat a knife-wielding maniac.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being outstanding these are my seminar experiences

Grandmaster William Chueng--Chi Sao 4 hour seminar---"8" Interesting seminar and well organized. A little controversial when GM Chueng starts explaining the best time of day to hit a pressure point or multiple pressure points.

Guru Dan Inosanto- 2 days "8" Interesting seminar but if you are not familiar with kali sticks you will be lost. A lot of basic stuff suitable for beginners or novice. The talks he gives, the war stories and his approach with music and bongo drums holds your interest and you feel like you are a part of martial arts history. The man is a walking legend.

Ajarn Chai- 2 days "9 1/2" Awesome seminar and I got to witness a test of 3 of his MT students. The test was brutal and the promotion candidates were spent and exhausted at the end of their test. We used thai pads and focus mitts and my legs were screaming for mercy. I left there with a new found respect for the simplicity of technique. I incorporated the MT Foot Jab into my throwdown arsenal along with the thrusting knee and the various elbow strikes.

George Dillman and Leon Jay together--1/2 day each. "7" I rated this seminar a 7 only because I was a Brown Belt in Jujitsu and a lot of the material I already knew. Grandmaster Dillmans knowledge of pressure points is awesome and I followed up by reading several of his books. Professor Jays jujitsu is very very good but like I already stated--I knew most of his material

Randy Couture's seminar was awesome!! Two days long and worth every penny!

Leonardo Xavier teaches a great BJJ seminar, so does Ricardo Murgel.

Carlos Elias (Caique) has a pretty good BJJ seminar, he shows some neat stuff.

Travis Tooke did a free bjj and judo seminar a few weeks back and it was a ton of fun and really informative!

Tim Mousel has really awesome seminars and needs to put on more!
