Default Tito Wont Fight Ken Anymore ???

"Dana regarding the UFC July 8, 2006, event from the Mandalay Bay:

- White said that after the fight, Tim Sylvia told him that he wanted an immediate rematch between himself and Andrei Arlovski to prove it wasn‘t a fluke. The rubber match of this trilogy will take place on 7/8/06.

- According to White, Ortiz has pulled out of his fight with Ken Shamrock, he did not elaborate why, and now Forrest Griffin will be taking on Shamrock at this event. "

And yeah, Tito had to pull out due to injury he suffered before the Griffin fight, ah well, Forrest will destroy Ken and everything will get back to normal.

Yeah, this is only due to Tito tearing his ACL I believe. I'm sure he will take a Shamrock fight as soon as he is 100%. I find the bad blood between the two of them extremey funny. I laugh whenever they are in the same room together... and to think it all started over Tito flipping off the Lions Den.

oh well.. I believe the fight will happen, but much later in the year, maybe early next year. It will be a huge payday for UFC so Dana definatey wants it to materialize.

Interesting, I cant wait until Arvloski tears Sylvia up, but its in a while(most likely a title match) so we'll just have to see what happens. But I really want AA to win! Forrest is going to whoop Shamrock's ass, and if Tito does end up fighting Shamrock, its going to be an assault.

Apparently Tito only broke his Fibula... and so now hes fighting shamrock, not Forrest.

My source is a thread on sherdog, that listed insidefighting.com as its source.

Not sure if its true or what... just throwing that out there.

I read the same at Subfighter...

Talk about a rollercoaster ride.

Moments ago, Tito Ortiz left the doctor’s office in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California and finally got the official word as to the extent of his myriad of injuries suffered before and during his fight with Forrest Griffin at UFC 59 back on April 15. He called InsideFighting to break the news.

“The news is good and bad,” Ortiz told InsideFighting. “The good news is that my ACL is healing well. There are no serious tears. And my LCL is only stretched, so that will be fine, too. As for the bulging discs in my back, they’ve given me some anti-inflammatory pills and might go the route of a cortisone shot. That treatment plus some rest and I’ll be fine.”

And the bad?

“I suffered a broken leg when I checked a kick,” he admitted. “I fractured the fibula in my left leg. But the doctors said that it will be fully healed in four-to-six weeks.”

Unfortunately, the injuries guarantee that Ortiz won’t be able to compete at UFC 61 on July 8.

“I can’t fight in July because there won’t be enough time after my injuries heal to get into top shape,” he explained. “I would love for Zuffa to hold Ken Shamrock until August and let us fight at UFC 62. I’d definitely be ready to fight by then. But I know they won’t postpone the fight. They’re going to give him to Forrest Griffin instead.”

In fact, UFC President Dana White already announced that he is going to substitute in Griffin for the injured Ortiz against Shamrock on July 8. So that begs the question: If Tito could play matchmaker, who would he choose to fight next?

“I would prefer to fight Shamrock because there has been a ton of buildup for the fight,” he said. “It’s something that I’ve wanted for a long, long time. But Forrest is going to beat him in July and that will be the end of Ken Shamrock. That’s not all bad, though. I definitely want a rematch with Forrest so I can show the world how badly I’ll beat him when I’m healthy. So I want a rematch with Forrest Griffin in my next fight.”

Fifteen minutes after receiving that call, Ortiz called InsideFighting back with a massive exclusive update.

“It really came down to the fact that I’ll be 100 percent healed in four-to-six weeks and will have six weeks to train for Shamrock,” Ortiz said in a shocking revelation. That’s enough. I’ll be ready. I got home and decided that I don’t want to let the money go from a Shamrock fight, so I called Dana White and made his year. He was pumped when he heard that I’m willing to fight Shamrock on July 8, even though I have a broken leg. I just want to get back in there after the Griffin fight and give Shamrock a beating.”

But the broken leg?

“I’ll be ready,” he insisted. “I’ll let my leg heal and then will do my road work for six weeks and get into great shape. The broken leg isn’t as bad as a torn ACL would have been.”

Needless to say, Ortiz sounded down and upset when InsideFighting spoke with him multiple times over the last few days. But he was completely upbeat and excited in this last conversation, one where he delivered the news with conviction and purpose.

“This is the life of a fighter,” Ortiz laughed. “It’s an emotional rollercoaster. But I’m fighting Shamrock in July. I made my decision. I told Dana just a few minutes ago. It’s happening. What it really comes down to is being mentally strong. I’m excited. I really want to fight Shamrock. I don’t want to give that fight to Forrest, so I’m going to fight him no matter what.”

Exactly. The match was one sided. What could Ken possibly bring to the table for a rematch. It'll be the same result. It's a yawner. Unless of course the viewer wants to see Ken crushed again. I'm sure there are many people like that out there because Ken can be super annoying.

Exactly, people want to see this because the build up to Ken-Tito 1 was so huge... but then Tito "owned face" haha...

So people want to see if Ken can actually compete with Tito (which he cant BTW). People want to see if Ken will retire when he gets stomped again. People want to see the two coaches of the ultimate fighter 3 fight, people love the drama that comes between them, etc... lots of reasons people want to see this fight, err sorry, beatdown.

Ken had a torn ACl in that fight and thats his excuse for getting totally owned in their with Tito. It was so bad that im surprised Tito is even giving Ken another shot. Titos broken bone in his leg is the small skinny bone that runs down the shin, not that thick one, so I dont see why, aside from blocking kicks, that it matters much if that is broken, he doenst need it to walk or stand, it doesnt do anything physically, it can be taken out actually.

Ken not only had a torn ACL, but had a torn shoulder muscle... and there was another injury, but I forgot what it was... I'll look it up then post it. I think Shamrock will ruin Ortiz... and I'm not so sure Forrest would ruin Shamrock the way you guys think he would. I would have Forrest winning in late knockout possibly, but more likely unanimous decision. I mean, untill he slipped in the Franklin fight, they were going back and forth with strikes and Ken was the only one who came close to a submission.
