Default bjj in sgv/la

Hi guys. I've been searching for a bjj school around my area, pasadena/san gabriel valley, basically I'm will to do a 45 min commute. Anyway, I've done searches on yahoo and found a few and then I searched bjj.org, but their stuff doesn't seem current.

So far I've found

Machado's in Pasadena
Fight Factory in Pasadena-instructor-Frederico Sabbatini
Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club-instructor-Marcus Vinicius
Caique Jiu Jitsu Academy in Carson
Rey Diogo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in LA
brazilianjiujitsuclub in Studio City-Chris Lisciandro(Brown belt)
Hayastan MMA Academy in La(Gokor Chivichyan)

Can you guys name me some more bjj places and prices/schedules/programs. Thanks And can you tell me about the reputations of any of these schools. Thanks again.

Machado's...

In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu... the Machado's are spoken of on the same level of the gracies, any Machado you learn from, or any Machado Black, brown, or purple will be a good teacher.

And is Gokor Chivichyan, Karo Paryisian's judo teacher along with Gene Lebell... if he is, not a bad place to go... I think I've seen that name somewhere if it isnt... oh wait maybe he's just sambo.

Pure BJJ I'd go with the machados... very, very, solid name/reputation in the BJJ world.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Who do you train with?

Do you know anything about Eddie Bravo? His website is here. All I know is that he tapped out Royler in some grappling tourny.

What do you think about this academy.

Andy wang teaches the bjj, but trigg teaches the submission wrestling and they have boxing and muy thai as well.

Personally, I hate Eddie Bravo... soo... you might not want to ask me...

I can tell you he teaches No-Gi only though.

You missed Shawn Williams, who is a black belt under Renzo Gracie and is located in Hollywood. I've trained with Shawn a few times, great guy and great instructor. When Shawn first came to LA, he was hanging out with us at our school. For a while, he was in Torrance and then moved to Hollywood.

I train with Rey Diogo.
Lots of people drive a long distance to train with us.
If you're talking about rep, Rey has one of the best reputations.

www.reydiogo.com

Dartanian Bagby is in North Hollywood.

I know near you, there's Wander Braga and Fabiano Iha but I think they are moving or have moved and not sure where exactly they are at.

If you're looking at commute time, 45 minutes doesn't get you too far with traffic.

R1 is great, Andy, Trigg and the other instructors are great.
If you're thinking of going to Caique's, there's also Aloiso Silva near Gardena.

When you're in a city like LA with so many BJJ schools to choose from, your best bet is to go to the school, look at the facility, talk to the instructor and talk to the students. You'll get a feel of where you'll feel the most comfortable and which teacher you'll like the best.

It all depends what type of training you're looking for. Competition-I'd look hard at R1. Sports BJJ, lots of places. If you do want to train no Gi only, your best choice is Eddie's place.
