Default any help planning amature mma with headgear and pads?

I am trying to come up with an amature system of mma, I have kids who love the ufc, as well as do I but I want to keep them safe, and as a former college and Golden Gloves champion boxer I am trying to come up with an amature system for our gym.

Now please don't respond that this is weak as that I am a minister by vocation I need not to be pummeled in the head nor do I need kids knocked cold.

I am figuring on trying a 20 point must system per round as in amature boxing. 1 point each for landed punches kicks & takedowns, with a standing 8 in effect.

I would also count submissions the same, just jump on them quicker for saftey and no elbows or knees on the ground.

Are there any other things I may be over looking, and are there safe and effective knee and elbow guards to add padding, not the really thin takwondo stuff.

I was planning on using the good training headgear with chin pads but any other help would be useful.

I currently am working with all of the Good wrestlers (those who train in the summer) and a few boxers who want to do this so please help.

Our program is free and we would love other gyms who might be interested in doing somthing similiar!
