No dippy, I have been on the ground, less than 1 percent of my fights went there though...I can ground fight (been doing it since the 60's) so I can avoid most peoples takedowns and punish them for the attempt. If your whole game relies on my not being able to stop your takedown, you might be in for a surprise...thats why I enjoyed Roylars buttscooting antics so much, I started wrestling, boxing and JJJ in the 60's and ironpalm in the very late 70's...few idiots I meet in the streets who wanna fight have an equal background. Work on your stand up, 100 percent of all fights start there.

i personally hate the guard. i feel its a way inferior position. you can get slammed or have your neck/back broken. ill do anything in my power to stay on top. that is afterall my goal in terms of sd. for me the guard is my last chance to escape or stop the attack before im totally finished(mounted). id rather use the guard to push his hips away from me so i can create space and get back to my feet or escape. a lot of bjj people train for points, but sd is my main concern. so ive been focusing alot of my game on escapes, reversals and aggressive guard passes for now. sometimes ill hold top positions that will allow me to effectively control an opponent while being able to strike at them at the same time, like kesa katame and back mount with beltline hook or regular hooks.

plus, i like the attacks from the top much better than the ones from the bottom.

Top. Guard pass/side control/armbar is what I usually get my submissions with.
