![]() | I am a pastor in New York, outside Albany. our church runs the summer wrestling program for the school & we are getting into MMA because the kids (all age 16 and up want to. Wrestling was just added 2 year ago and our district is tiny, 750 from k-12 The coach formed the team by taking the kids from iss and working with them, I just got transfered here and set up the relationship & with my Boxing and Wrestling Background I decided to take up the summer program. The reason I am telling you all this is that I have very little cash I have $400 to work with, I have use of a 20'X20' mat for the summer and I got 6 head gear 2 sets of 14 OZ sparing gloves & bag gloves bought already. The problemb is I'm not seeming to be able to stretch my $$ far enough, I know many of you who run gyms work with this all the time but the rub here is our program is FREE it costs the kids nothing, in fact the wrestling coach is even paying the $180 for the kids to be insured under USA wrestling himself, and I bought the headgear, Gloves and focus mitts. So we now have $400 and need the following items A. 6 sets of MMA Gloves B. 6 cup Groin protectors C. 1 free standing Cobra reflex Bag D. 6 instep Protectors E. 1 free standing heavy Bag (we cannot fasten to the roof of the church hall) f. 1 chest protector/ heavy body pad G. 1 instructional video on armbars, chokes ect. We are tax exempt and I can write a donation for the difference so please if you have any of this stuff, and are willing to part cheap let me know. I signed up with Ringside for a Wholesale acc. but it is kin of a joke, some of thier sale prices are actually cheaper than wholesale, and not everything is avail. Please contact me with any help or information you amy be, this is a great chance to help kids, I'm sure if it where not for Boxing/Wrestling and the Marine Corp I would be in alot worse of a position today, these kids want to learn, and MMA will keep them out of trouble thank you P.S. they are aged 15 - 18 In His Grasp Rev. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would suggest AWMA. www.awma.com or century. I would suggest instead of trying to achieve the near impossible feat of buying all of that on $400 that you seek out people who could make some donations. Another thing is teach the kids responsibility and make them do something to raise the money to get the gear. Perhaps they could do yard work for the members of your congregation in return for small donations. Just a thought.

![]() ![]() | Another great way to raise money is to do a bottle drive. Just drive them around the neighborhood and ask people if they have any cans or bottles they can have. It adds up, this is how my old boyscout troops raised money for camping trips. Or try a bakesale. Just put something in the church bulletin asking the ladies to whip up something to help support the club then do a little flyering and word of mouth advertising. You might want to call around to the local martial arts schools too. I'm sure you'd be able to score at least a couple pairs of gloves. If they aren't willing to donate outright (great tax write off) they might be willing to do it in exchange for you coming in and cleaning the mats/mirrors/bathrooms or if you're willing to put up some advertising flyers for their school. |

![]() | Your local walmart might be a good place to start on some kind of community sponsorship. Heck I believe they sp[onsor hockey all the time then why not mma. They do generally have boxing supplies and catch them on a good day and you might be able to squeeze a wavemaster free standing bag out of them possibly. Good luck Rev. James -P- |

wow Oma must be REEEEEEEEEEAL upset about the Gracie losing to have to post some crap like this. Anyway we could take a vote and ban him? It's in bad taste, and out of place here. Some one actually asking for help and this HOMOPLATA decides to take a cheap shot, are you really that down & out Homoplata? Hell the Gracies make enough money off guys like you Homo, maybe you could ask them for some donations instead of a feeble attempt at humor, way to go Homo, way to go!! | |
