| Advanced | By the way there is a possibilaty for Sperry and Rickson to hook up being the fact that they are both under the Colliseum Orginization.

| I think Rickson would duck Sperry like he ducks everyone else in the MA world. That said, if they did tangle, Rickson would probably win due to psychological advantage alone. Everyone in Brazil seems to think he's unbeatable, especially in pure jiu-jitsu. |

![]() | A couple things to consider. When Sperry competes, he generally scores points to win, does not relentlessly pursue subs. Rickson hasn't competed in point tournaments in years and years, he just rolls with top guys periodically and makes them tap. Sperry and Rickson both can tap Royler. I can't make the prediction for sure, because even the top bjj guys that Rickson taps (Traven, Gurgel, Saulo) would probably have to tap to Sperry eventually in NTL also. I think that Bustamante and Liborio could be just as competitive as Sperry. |

![]() | While I agree with Ronin that Rickson's legendary aura will always give him a sort of intimidating presence, I've always thought that if there's one guy who's going to give him a run for his money, it's Sperry. Having said that, by this time there's a lot of Brazilian guys that I think could possibly give Rickson trouble, if only because JJ is advancing so rapidly down there as opposed to in the states. Nevertheless, all those cool new techniques are moot if you can't get in position to use them, and I don't know if you can get Rickson in that position! LOL! Sperry, however, has brute strength/weight + technique, so just maybe... |

![]() | Rickson would easily beat Mario. As you guys have already said Mario is a point player. In a NTL match his stalling would be meaningless. Rickson taps Traven easily. Mario fought Traven at Abu Dhabi for 40 minutes and couldn't even score a takedown. In NTL Rickson would finish him. |

![]() | Ground Control: a lot of people point to that loss and say "Sperry sucks" because of it. I don't think one loss--quite a long time ago--can define the guy. He's done pretty f'ing well at Abu Dhabi and other places since then. No mean feat. Duchman: as I understand it, the Sambo match was lost on points when Rickson got thrown. As the story goes, he "didn't know" the rules clearly (...) enough to know that would cost him the match. However, it wasn't like he was submitted or anything. |

![]() | It amazes me how I rush into these threads expecting ground-breaking news...... ahem......I think Rickson would win.

![]() | On a given day, anyone can be beaten. That being said, Rickson IMO would beat Sperry the majority of the time they fought. Hawk

![]() | Sigh. Duchman, a) Perhaps you noticed in parentheses: (...). After the "didn't know the rules" part. That basically means "whatever." b) I've never heard Rickson claim to be a Sambo champ, nor a champion of anything except JJ.
