The most "lethal" guy I ever had the pleasure of meeting was a little tiny man with a great big smile. (and a very sharp knife)... He seemed quiet and shy for the most part. Polite and soft spoken unless you pissed him off. Then he was just scarry...

Oh shit...the goth geek that posted his photo up must've switched it. Oh well, just imagine a greasy, dirty, long haired, fat, metalhead/goth looking dude and you've got the idea.

I was gonna get some SPRAWL shorts but now i know thats not such a good idea.......but if i saw someone where a "full contact fighter", "TapouT", or "UFC" piece of clothing that would definetly piss me off especially if they were wearing it casually on the street. At my school there's a group of kids who wear 'asian character shirts' with MA stick figure drawings and thats bad enough.

Okay...next time I fight...pink hotpants, and an anime t-shirt...and grow out an Eddy Mercury mustache.
THAT might be considered cheating...a little anti-grappler tactic there... |

I see far too much of this myself. I train with people who are like this. This whole "MMA" boom has kicked off a fad. Now we've got all these angry, tattoed white trash morons learning to fight so they can "be cool" and "be tough, just like Tito." It isn't even martial art, its just stupid pop culture conformity and machisimo.

This whole subject reminds me of my own pet peive people who've never been in the military wearing dog tags or camo including fighter who wear camo trunks don't they know they look like a jack ass. The only thing worse is an ex-solider or marine wearing camo cargo pants how retarded this must stem from a deep seated sexual desire to cut off the arm and leg parts off your bdus (that's camies for the jarheads).
BTW I'm quasi disabled from train for fighting/fighting does that give methew "right" to wear tap out of full contact fighter gear? can I get a tatoo the says FCF4L on my shin or am I being a poser. btw I wouldnt because I wouylod justb get pissed every time I look at it. I don't need any reminders about fighting I get enough just waking up taking my various medicines and walking around /praying that my body won't start give out on me every day LOL. btw as one of my mma teaches used to say "the wambulence is pulling up at the door for me" gotta go get faded on fo'ty oz now

Hey guys, I think this a great thread! I train BJJ, and I'll say upfront I have no interest in fighting anytime or getting into MMA. I'm a pilot and really can't afford to take one in the nugget. Probably wouldn't do it, anyway. We DO have a bunch of young dudes in my school (by young, I mean late teens, early 20s...I'm early 30s) who want to be the next UFC champ. They wear the gear, have the tats, the whole nine yards. Most are nice guys and I don't want to call 'em poseurs, but.....
God Bless 'em, but almost NONE of them has taken a punch to the face by someone who knows how to throw one. I boxed in college, and it sucks. I have a feeling many of these guys will fade once they step in the ring for the first time. Like skateboarding, Texas hold 'em, and other fads, this one will die, too. Then only the die-hards will still be around. In the meantime, think about all the guys like y'all who have been doing this forever and a day getting to actually make a living off the boom in popularity! I hope all the trainers and instructors out there take advantage of it now, are smart with all the cash, and prepare for the downturn! Never post, but I enjoy all the threads. Later |

all of the tough guy kids could've been avoided if precautionary measures had been taken;

well...I wear tapout hoodies, sprawl shorts, and FCF hats. Just trying to support the sport by buying mma products. I don't stereotype people for wearing a certain clothing, hell the most serious and humble fighter I know wears nothing but tapout, I havn't seen many of these posers but I do dislike the way tapout markets some of their shit

who cares......on a positive, the more posers sporting tapout and fight gear means more sponsorship money to go around for fighters and teams.

They can come up with a better/more attractive excuse for her to drop those tapout shorts around her ankles.
