I've been retired from regular training for the past year.
I'm 47 and I had a cautionary injury when sparring , so I quit and focused on building a new business. That was about a year ago. But, as most of you know, this discipline gets a hook in you and I miss it. I'm hoping to connect to a couple of guys, close to my age (35-45) drilling in their garage dojo in the Mission Viejo, Lake Forest area that would like another good drill partner. For myself, I just want to keep a hand in and to get that conditioning back. I'm in a weight losing mode at the moment, 5'11", at 193 (down from 215) (of goo) shooting for 180-175. My background is, as a novice, a month of privates with Nelson Monterro, then 3-4 months with Roy Harris, much later, 2 months with Goes in Extreme University, then the bulk of mat time, 2 years of Pedro Carvahlo cirriculum at a cardio fit, finishing with about 2 months of Next Generation cirriculum at the same Cardio Fit. I'm close to the 5-405 split. Send me an email if you fit the profile. |

Old dude here but in LA, too bad you weren't closer.
Judo dude is trying to get back into shape but I don't know exactly what city he is in, and if he wants to train. I do know he does want to lose some pounds. |

There was a time when a friend of mine was going to place his dojo under Carvalho, but after some conversations and a few weeks of waiting for his organization membership papers...I think it died out. Now, with Carlson, Jr. coming in this weekend for a seminar, I wouldn't be surprised if my friend goes with him. Jr. is supposed to be moving to Cincinatti, Ohio, so I believe that's the route he'll be taking.
Peace

Sorry, I meant to type "that resembled a Greek god".... My bad. Seriously, I trained at that Cardiofit, and I know why he calls himself "wheez"!!! Now go to bed old man.

You know me EJ. I checked your website and I remember you. Also from your website I now know what my main supplier of vhs clutter, Zhoozhitzu, looks like.
Some one asked about affiliate Pedro Carvahlo teaching. I enjoyed all I got from both John Jensen and Emilio. Anyone familiar with reviews of the Pedro tapes knows the kind of depth his instruction achieves. I became overchallenged by the Next Generation school that replaced the Pedro group. I was overweight, couldn't hang for even the warm up, and then had a semi collapse of my GOOD lung. It was great instruction for a young man in good health. Which aint me. Now, I want to join some guy, or guys, peer types, that are getting together in a back yard or garage, once, twice a week, doing some casual reinforcement of their formal study. I'd throw my place open , but I'm a cluttered apartment guy. |

Nice to see you here...
John is a good man, and a good fighter. Emilio got his brown belt, BTW. I live about 25 miles from you, and I train in Costa Mesa at James' place... Maybe you could stop in and check it out... They will work you in slowly, I'm sure.
