To whom it may concern I am a Vietnam era veteran and Martial Artist who has had the distinct pleasure of attending a Muang. Gyi seminar. As black belt level in 2 arts I was very impressed with his fighting ability and even more impressed as a vet with his stories of WW2 combat with the Japanese. After the seminar I began to research the Burmese Arts and Gyi, as I wanted to learn as much as I could about this impressive man and his art. My research has led me to believe this man is a complete fraud and pathological liar. As a veteran I was enraged when I came upon the following web sites detailing his lies.

I have done a web search and found your site listed under the American Bando Association, Maung Gyi, Burmese Bando, Dr Gyi or some other reference and wanted to notify you about this con artist as you may be helping him perpetrate his fraud. He is a skilled instructor but is this honestly a man you wish to lend your name and reputation to. He uses our admiration for the brave who defend their countries to capture our respect.

I implore you to read the following websites and make your own decisions. http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies33.htm

    phonyveterans.com/Gyi.html

This lowlife spits on the grave of every soldier who died in combat and diminishes the suffering of every POW who sacrificed for his country. You may not like the message and want to take it out on the messenger but if this is not the truth than Gyi should clear it up as we all know he is fully aware of it. If you have heard firsthand his bizarre self-aggrandizing stories please let these fine organizations know.

A concerned Martial Artist and Veteran

Frank Dux- The only westerner to ever win the coveted Kumite fighting event

    About The Secret Man

Frank Dux was a CIA secret agent. His mission was to enter the secret underground Kumite in Hong Kong, a fighting event that has been held since the days of Genghis Kahn. In all of its history no western fighter had ever won the Kumite. Frank Dux was no normal westerner.
The modest Shidoshi Dux claims that he did not believe he would win when he entered the Kumite. His mission was to infiltrate and gain information. To his surprise he destroyed every fighter he was matched against. He displayed awesome speed and techniques, using his Ninjutsu to defeat all other styles.

Hollywood was so impressed by Shidoshi Dux's experience they made a movie. The movie was called Bloodsport and starred Jean Claude Van Damme. Mr Dux said that Van Damme was nothing but a ballet dancer until he taught him martial arts. The movie is a very accurate portrayal of the great achievment made by Frank Dux in the Kumite.

Frank Dux makes the fighters that we see in The Ultimate Fighting Championship look second rate.He says that he was refused entry in the first UFC because the promoters feared that he would destroy all the competition including the fighter that the UFC guys had set up to win.

Shidoshi Dux holds many impressive records in Martial Arts. On his Website he lists many of these achievments.

-Full Contact Kumite World Heavy Weight Champion Undefeated (1975-1980)
    -Most consecutive knockouts - 56
    -Fastest knockout - 3.2 sec.
-Fastest recorded kick with knockout - 72 mph
-Fastest recorded punch with knockout - .12 sec.
-In addition, Mr. Dux still holds 12 unbroken world records as a martial artist.
Shidoshi Dux is one of the only men to ever punch through bullet proof glass. He suffered a mysterious brain tumor in the early 1990's, the same tumor that killed his CIA boss when he was due to give important evidence in court. Shidoshi Dux fell into a coma and was rushed to hospital. Just when the medical world had said he had only days to live, the inner strength of his great Ninja Warrior came through and Shidoshi Dux recovered. He still suffers some sude effects from the tumor but continues to train in his own style of Ninjutsu, Dux Ryu.

Frank Dux is undoubtedly one of the greatest martial artists a to ever walk the earth. It is an honor to have lived in the same era as such a great warrior.

Shidoshi Dux was in fact a secret soldier. The government kept no records on him because he was on covert missions.
If Dux was ever captured behind enemy lines the government would deny all knowledge of him.
Dux actually headed 2 missions into Vietnam in search of MIA's. His job was to just take photo's but he uncovered a prison full of POW's. The government ordered him to leave them behind.

Frank Dux, a true American Hero.

I would like to clarify a number of points

My name is Richard Hecles and my e-mail is rhec@juno.com and if I have intruded on your forum I am truly sorry as my intention was not to ruin anyone’s bulletin board. I am not affiliated with either of the sites posted. I am not looking to argue or name call with Muang Gyi or his supporters as I said I had gone to 2 of his seminars and was very impressed at the time especially because of the been there done that experience of combat. Those who believe and support this man may feel I’m trying to make them look foolish but men as distinguished as Guru Inosanto the Dog Brothers and many others including myself have at one time or another believed in him.

There seems to be some controversy over the site http://www.phonyveterans.com/Gyi.html and his investigative methods and I agree it is very abrasive he does take down false information when pointed out to him.
On the other hand http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies33.htm is a very thorough site, which posts both sides of the story including emails of support and prints up retractions and apologies when factual evidence is presented disputing their site. Many of their disputed facts come from Gyi’s own articles.

I had come to this board for one reason when doing a web search posts had popped up lauding Gyi and his combat experiences and I feel frauds should be exposed especially when others post their supposed exploits and experiences as reason to train with them and every hit on the internet when researching Gyi makes reference to his heroism.

No matter the side of this you are on if you have met the man and are a supporter and can help his side resolve this or if you have just heard his stories contact the sites and let them know what you have experienced it is very important to many people including Gyi as it is his word being questioned.

Again I had only posted this as counterbalance to previous claims of heroics so people could form their own opinions and not accept disputed information as factual. It is up to the individual to form an opinion. I am sorry for the intrusion on your forum.

Thanks Rich! As you can tell, this is an emotionally charged issue on this forum, as Master Gyi has heavily influenced all of us. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that I appreciate your last post clarifying your intentions.

If the allegations are true, then I for one certainly cannot condone Master Gyis, shall we say....embelishments. However, if it were not for Master Gyi bringing us this wonderful art of Brazilian Jiujitsu, where would we be today??

Once again, thank you for making us aware of this information. It has throw our little forum into a state of shock to be sure, but perhaps this is healthy.

    Huh?

    Hey Masala... Brazilian Jui-jutsu???

But really, has anyone heard if Dr. Gyi has commented on these allegations?
